Description
Here come the punky warm jets. Built on Bud's guitar, bass, drums, demo - Particledots sweetens the track with vocals, synths, and the magic blender.

Track 1 of the RPM Challenge entry Let Your Mind Stay. The RPM Challenge dictates that a CD of at least 10 songs or 35 minutes in length be created from scratch in the month of February. Bryn Corbett aka Particledots and Kevin Jones aka Bud embraced the opportunity to work together long distance (Phoenix AZ / Brooklyn NY) having done so in the past along with Michael2 and others. The first week Bud posted 5 demos to the shared drop box (mostly guitar - bass - drum ideas) which Particle proceeded to run through his blender. What came back were often radical remixes enhanced by synths and other sonic perversions. Bud then added vocals or some other noise and stuck it back in the box. So it went back and forth without a word spoken and virtually no comments or directions via email. Along the way Particle produced a couple of tracks from scratch and eventually we had an evening chat as we approached completion - followed by two new tracks and a flurry of remixes.

knocking the needle off the record
dig it! i really like the production, that seething "loud song quietly produced" dynamic, very joy division. i like the backups and the choppy rhythm, the way the same circular melody carries the entire tune - makes for some sweet melancholy. i would have danced all night to this back in the day at the all ages show. fun, fun kids thanks for the DL!

Layers...
... and layers of sonic goodness. I get a mid 80's indie vibe in places, but elsewhere it's resolutely contemporary. Great soundscape and I love how parts drop out and fall back in later on around the 2.00 mark. The reverbed vocal calls at the end are awesome. Magic.

Kind of
reminds me vaguely of She Wants Revenge.

The beat is so cool and grooving. I dig the vocals! I also really dig the droning low end. That kicks big time.

Different and cool!

Nice one.

I'll have to check that song out
can't say I know it by name - or maybe it's a band I don't know. There's plenty of things I don't know. Cheers!

Who knew
I think this is one of my favourites from the whole CD (if not my fave). That choppy, insistant guitar sound sets the mood and it just doesnt stop till the end. The call and response vocals - bud's background wail v/s particle's 'talk-singing' produces an interesting dynamic. Oh, lets not forget that sliding up and down off centered talking heads-like bass line that propels the whole thing like some CBGB energy engine from the 'good old days'...

Who knows WTF I am talking about here but I do know I just 'like' this - A LOT

Bud - it was great working on this and all the other tracks.

rpm
kudo's to you both for taking it on. Good eclectic vibe but just what I'd expect from the merger of two cool styles. Nicely blended imho

So hard to
find the time to listen to a full album these days... but I did. I think you two are definitely inspirational for each other. Some really fine music and production throughout.
This is a great track.
Cheers
