Description
Slow and gentle ambientish piece, with familiar synth settings! There are nine tracks altogether: four Albino 3, four Zebra 2 and an EXS24 bass setting. As usual, mucho pencilling and a stiff back.

Thanks for coming by and listening.

Thanks Kenta
I'm stressed out like you wouldn't believe! It really takes it out of me, doing these tunes. Sort of defeats the object doesn't it?

Thanks again.

I get a smile on my face
whenever I see there's a new davajonah track (you uploaded about 1 minute after I did ;-)
This is lovely: calm, serene, and cool. Very nice, Dave.

Ha, yes!
See above for a definition of calm, serene and cool! My head throbs and my back aches. But I like the tune.

Thanks for listening and your kind comments.

Sunset over Hilbre island
With the seals all chilled out. Well thats what it reminded me of. I got the chance to pass there on the Hoylake lifeboat last year at sunset. This would have been the perfect accompanyment to the trip. Wonderful. Cheers. Mark

Wow!
I live a stone's throw [well, about 3 miles] from Hilbre Island. I often walk out there when the tide is out. It's a really nice place and I like your imagery for this tune! Maybe I should rename it.

Thanks for stopping by Mark, and your kind comments.

Hi Dave....
there's always some tranquility in your Ambient pieces. I look forward to this aspect more than any other when I see a new piece from you. You have a way to have things going on but that still keep the peaceful mood.

I get an oriental feel from this piece.

Take care.

Paul

My wife mentioned the oriental feel too. [I make her listen to my tunes when they're finished. She is long suffering!] It was not intentional.

Thank you once again. And get your DAW fired up and make some more tunes, please.

sunday chill
Yay! I managed to listen to one of your songs when I don't have an important thing to get on with and can just relax and let the song wash over me.
Very oriental feel to this and lovely construction.
Just one thing, the single note keys ( not the wash synths) appear to be a bit 'harsh' sometimes and I think it may be a volume issue.
They may benefit from being taken down just a touch in the mix.but that's just my opinion.
I don't know how you make such chilled out ambient music and live in Liverpool. You must live in Birkenhead :-)
( that's not a slur on Liverpool by the way , we visit now and again and really like it. It's just very busy and frantic)
Anyway. Lovely stuff as usual
cheers

Thank you!
Yes, you may be right about the single notes. The setting I used "pans" is is a bit unpredictable. But yes, I will take you up on that and maybe do a little bit more tweaking. Not tonight though. I'm all music'ed out!

I live in New Brighton actually, not Birkenhead. New Brighton is far more chilled!

Thanks again.

A jewel it is
I love the slow patient pace of this. Excellently placed notes and a synth backdrop to die for. A beauty.

davajonah said 2508 days ago (March 14th, 2010)
Thanks D
I had thought of speeding this one up a bit, but decided against. It's a massive 40BPM! The "backdrop" is actually five different synth voices. It was difficult getting it right, in fact I'm not sure I have, [I never am] but I think you can just about hear them all, which was the idea.

Thanks, once again, for your generous comments. Truly appreciated!

Like antacid tablets? ;) I jest! That's a very kind thing to say.

"Growler" btw, is a beauty. I had a listen earlier. I love how you dropped the guitar to make that wonderful bass sound. The drums are well cool too.

Pamini's Jewel...
well it sounds well polished to me Dave... love the depth and those well placed 'sparkles'.... well worth getting a stiff back for..... sounds slightly Oriental from about 2.00 on. Very relaxing as though floating on a cloud over some beautiful scenery, Lovely, regards M

Yes, my back and neck are very stiff. And the missus is not too happy either, because I was supposed to clear the "jungle" out in the back today. Oh well. My "art" is far more important! ;-) Odd how a few people have mentioned "Oriental" isn't it? Nothing was intentional, but I don't mind!

Thanks again.

Love
the way this unfolds. Fabulous mix. Echoing Maurice there's an Asian feel to this that I love.
Wonderful piece.

Didn't know Vangelis lived on the Wirral
Lovely rolling sounds - not unlike Albido something or other by Vangelis. And you did all this with the pencil tool? You've got more patience than me! Very chilled. I drifted away...

Vangelis! I wish I had his loot...

As for pencilling, yes I have to do it a lot. I try very hard with my little keyboards, but having not so nimble fingers makes it difficult! I envy you guys who play things so effortlessly, really I do. I spent forever trying to play guitar, but realised after ten years of trying, I could never be Pat Metheney. So I gave up! But I like what I do, even if it takes ages.

Thanks again!

create, relax
The act of creation is NOT relaxing, I agree. However, the results you achieve here are worth the work. Nice gentle gin-n-pentatonic sunset through the Torii gate, with cherry blossoms blowing across the path. Arigatou gozaimasu... sore wa yasashii desu. (Thank you, this is gentle.)

I think
I'm going to hire you to teach me how to use synths. Man, I look at those interfaces with all the knobs and buttons and I cry. that sitar-ish sound is very cool. This piece is lovely, definitely slow and gentle. I would have liked for the bed to be a little louder in the mix, and the lead synth to be a little softer. But this is definitely one for my "relax" playlist. Thanks for the download!

Free Synth Lesson
1. Load a synth
2. Select a preset
3. Twiddle with the knobs and see what happens

That's what I do anyway.

Thanks for the thumbs up!

Well at least
we seem to use the same technique for music making ;-) I enjoyed this one immensely. The sounds, the mix, the sh-t (sorry). Well, it's just sweeeet. I too think it sounds a bit like Aslan, or was that Asian? Not sure. BTW, "padmini", isn't that like an iPod Touch? Anyway, sorry for the kate arrival (too much other stuff lately) and thanks for the download.

Awesomeness!
This track is awesomeness to the extreme! The pads are fantastic and the riffs that have a Japanese sound to them are a great touch. Beautiful track that swirls around my head and takes me to a wonderful place. Thanks for sharing this with us!
