Time For Bed (w/ Vic Holman)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
I originally wanted to do a sort of children song about going to bed, but it turned into something a little deeper than that I guess.

I needed this one to be spruced up a bit, so I contacted my good old friend Vic and he surprised by giving this the George Martin treatment with some great guitar work. Thank you Vic.

Hope you all enjoy this.

Lyrics
Time For Bed

Lay down and rest your head
It’s sleepy time; it’s time for bed

Wake up when the sun is shining
Don’t make a fuss; there’s no use in crying

Everybody knows what they…
Everyone knows
Everyone knows what they need

Solitude can leave you lonely
I can’t reach out for my one and only

Pen runs dry when I get the answer
I can’t forget and I can’t remember

Everybody knows what they…
Everyone knows
Everyone knows what they need

sleepy time
cool.... Some great touches in here, especially at about 1.30 and just before the cool solo. The 2 vocal parts work really well together.
A great listen

Time for bed with Vic Holman? Oh.... It's Time for Bed (w/ Vic Holman). Different meaning, but still zesty. This is a cool match. The drums take it away from run of the mill lullaby, but it's still a very sweet song. With a good edge. It's like a Leornard Cohen lullaby with George Martin at the controls. I'm a fan.

Yes, there
is Vic's inimitable riffing. The lava-ettes are in good voice. Kind of Beatles meets the Kinks.
Yeah, you couldn't sleep with that choice guitar but you sure can smile. :)

you guys sound great together. you should hook up more often. i like that it's got the lavalamp standard sound only a little wider, and i really like that cello, especially in the bridge around 2:25.

Zzzzz...
So sweet and melodic ... Although it is a bed time song I enjoy it pretty much now in the morning ... it has some rising quality I have to say and makes my morning brighter (it is so grey outside). I would only probably not end with the g. solo and keep playing the accoustic maybe with singing one more phrase. That would make a smoother landing for this kind of song I guess :) Alltogether very enjoyable song!

This is a big sound for a bedtime song! Your singing sounds great on this and I like the expansive mix. You did indeed get the George Martin treatment on this tune--it's got some real majesty as it goes on.
