Description
This is a mix I found on my hard drive last night. I worked on it and finished it towards the end of November last year (2009). It has been posted elsewhere, so some of you may have heard the track before.

Imagine you're out there in the middle of outer space and there are no communications expected, and you've left the radio channel open and scanning all frequencies for any signs of life. What you hear here is some of what you may hear out there.

I can't call this piece a come-back as I've never left (daily visits) but certainly my focus is elsewhere and not on music from the creativity side. Maybe one day, but not just yet.

Thanks everyone for your support (both publicly and privately) when I vanished. It means a lot to me.

Your thoughts on my pieces are always welcome, whatever you think.

The sound of emptiness
Having developed persistent ringing in my ears over the last year, I feel like I'm personally acquianted with the sound of space--and I like your version a whole lot better!

Hi Michael.....
I too have the ringing in the ears. I've noticed it since I stopped making my music and spending hours listening to variations of my work ready for upload. I hope that your ringing goes away one day.

Take care.

I've just watched
"Wonders of the Solar System" on the BBC iPlayer and this would not be out of place as part of the soundtrack. Glad to see you back with that which you do so well. Shimmering and shivery stuff!

Hi Dave....
I'm not making music, just recycling old stuff. It's one of a few 2009 pieces that I've come across in my 'ideas' folder, so there may be others uploaded over the next little while. Certainly no new stuff will be coming, as I'm not yet ready for my next musical phase, so recycling is my next best thing to offer.

Take care.

Hi Paul
Hope you are well!

This is a fantastic piece. I love how it evolves and mutates in slow motion.

I feel like Ed Straker, listening to this on my ipod touch in 1980 while waiting at SHADO HQ for the next UFO attack

Cheers

Hi Brin.....
I'm sure I must have seen UFO but can't recall when that was. I've seen just about everything else sci-fi on offer, ever.....

It's great that you got into the 'groove' of this shifting piece. When I found it I wondered why I hadn't done more with the idea. Go figure, eh??

Don't know what will be coming next, as I'm focused elsewhere than music creation at the moment, and I'm not that bothered. Everything else is going swimmingly at the moment. Dad appears to be doing well after a few months of uncertainty and concern.

Hope you and yours are well.

Take care.

Hi 101........
It's good that my description fitted the piece. It always helps with soundscapes such as these!! Ha ha. It's also an acquired taste, to listen to these excursions into nothingness, with twinkles.

Take care.

Crazy
Another quintessential space ambient piece from you. It sounds so easy .. ha .. but I know better. Much respect for your talents, sir. Very glad that you posted one of your "oldies."

Hi Duane......
I sit for various periods of time imagining leaving the earths' atmosphere and moving to the moon and then the planets, outwards, and try to see/feel them to scale and distance. I also try to move outside the solar system, so I have a vivid imagination for these soundscapes, plus my reading matter is mostly sci-fi and my favourite films are sci-fi so it's really programmed into me and this type of music is the path of least resistance for me. It also helps to be mad as a Hatter, to boot.

There may be others coming over the next few weeks. Glad you enjoyed this one.

Take care.

Hep, you ARE the master of this genre
I have been busy catching up with listening here on MJ, there are still so many good songs posted and so little time to listen. It's also not nice to have to rush the listening, especially with pieces like this where some amount of immersion is required (thanks Duane for the 'definition'). This is very meditative and relaxing in a chilly kind of way - as it should be.

Anyway, nice to hear from you again, Paul, and good luck with that 'other stuff' (which I admit I'm rather curious about what it might be ;-)

Take care,
Henrik

Hi Henke.......
I'm back, but only as far as uploading old mixes. No really new stuff and some of what I will be uploading may not have been uploading if I was making new tracks. It's a departure from the way I did things through 2009. My creative focus is elsewhere for now.

Take care.

I like it! "2001" is one of my favorite movies, and I could just imagine this playing as Dave floated toward the monolith...

Hi SMG......
That film is a seriously good film. I remember seeing it and then buying the book. I've been a fan of this genre ever since.

Thanks for stopping/floating by.

Take care.
