Description
This mix is one I made in November 2009. I found it again yesterday. There may be a few more where this came from...

It's a mix based on ideas from me reading the 12 books of Carlos Castaneda, and one of the subjects treated in the books, recapitulation. The piece has both dark and light areas and manages also to be both serious and frivolous.

It's not really space opera/ambient but it could have been!! Ha ha.

As always I'm interested in your thoughts about this piece.

Hi Falcef.......
I'm glad you've had a listen to my mix and like the arrangement. The instruments used are always important to me, along with the notes playe, etc..

I've had a listen to your latest piece and your sound reminds me of Miles Davies. I'll have a listen to your other pieces over the next few days. I don't do ratings, sorry.

Take care.

Earthbound!
It "could" be a space opera but as a rock and mineral collector who's spent many a weekend spelunking in caves of all sorts, this piece gave me the impression of going deeper and deeper into some unknown spaces! Lots of imagery with each turn of this composition and I really liked it!

Hi Michael.....
It is more of a soul-searching piece, but I suppose you could do that pretty much anywhere these days. The space it takes you to is only unknown because you don't quite remember it yet.

I'm glad you found the soundscaoe imagery valid. This is my aim with all my pieces.

Take care.

The perfect piece
for space travelling, that's what I am hearing. I'll be sure to bring it with me should I take some rocket for a spin one of these days ;-)

Take care,

Henke

Hi Henke....
It's inner space this time, I'm afraid. The only vacuum is apparent, as there's so much depth. Any discomfort is only the little ego making its presence felt. you can safetly ignore it and get back to the view.

Take care.

Elements of Varese
I really enjoyed this even if I didn't get the light and shade :-)

Hi Dick.......
Glad you enjoye the mix. The light and dark bits are sort of how you feel as you listen and how much you 'fall into' the mix. It's more a mind thing than music.

Varese. Mmmm. There's a name I've had to Google. This is what I love about Macjams and other music communities. The sharing of ideas and musical knowledge. I'll be checking him out in the near future.

Take care.

Recapitulation
wonderful spatial feeling. Adrift in the clouds. Not quite joyous, but not down either. By the time I acclimate to each addition you introduce another texture. Well done

Hi KTB.......
My pieces have a tendency to change/develop over their length even if it sometimes is subtle. This mix is a little more obvious, as you've noticed.

I do try to add width to my pieces, by having one track 'normal' to the ears and another track quite to very wide, and sometimes i play with the 'depth' too.

Thanks for your kind words.

Take care.

Sustained intensity
That's what it is. This has elements of space ambient, but it did not sound like space. It is Earthly. Maybe it was something off in the distance that feels (if not sounds) like voices. It has a closed-in jungle feel. I know that sounds wrong, but that's what I "saw." It has darkness in places, but light in others, but it is so very subtle. Bows to you. Amazing piece of work.

Hi Duane.........
The piece is about 'inner space', again most of it uncharted or explored because its not that easy to get to. It's all about that 'moment point' or 'now' experience. When you experience these inner realms you have to have heightened concentration to stay there. This eventually becomes the focus and everything else drops away, so your awareness is of one thing, and when you drop the focus of your attention from this one thing. Hey presto!!! What I tried to depict, in as many words.

It's always enriching for me to have your thoughts on any of my pieces.

Take care.
