No Holding Onto You w/Roxylee, Futzpucker, Vic Holman, Scofugate, Jiguma

Description
What can I say? Love hurts! But my fellow Macjammers helped me ease the pain. Jack, or THE Davisamerica, took all of our tracks and constructed them on Garage Band and finalized in Logic. This will probably be bouncing around between his cranial walls for weeks to come as many times he's had to listen to it. That's Patrick (Futzpucker) on B3 organ and piano. Scott, (Scofugate) on live drums. Vic Holman on lead guitar. Neil Porter, (Jiguma) on bass guitar, and Roxy, (Roxylee) on back up vocals. It was great working with this team of artists as they turned this Ho Hummer into Highly Hummable.

Lyrics
No Holding Onto You

If you got a reason to go
I got a reason to stay
If you got a reason to head out
I’ll turn my head and look away
I tried to make you love me
It just didn’t work out that way

Are you gonna write me a letter
You gonna drop me a line
Let me know just how you’re doin’
And I wanna know you’re doin’ fine
It’s hard to break this habit;
Pretendin’ that you’re mine

But I just wanna see you happy
I just want what’s good for you
And if you have to leave to find it
Then I guess I want that too
If lovin’ you means lettin’ go
There’s no holding onto you

And if you come back here to see me
Don’t bring your new man
I don’t think that I could face him
And I think he’d understand
But if you find that smile you’re lookin’ for
I’d like to see it if I can

For it will cost me dearly
And what an awful price to pay
Here I adore the ground you walk on
And I let you walk away
Though I’d never do it differently
I’ll regret it everyday

So if you got a reason to go
I got a reason to stay
If you got a reason to head out
I’ll turn my head and look away
I tried to make you love me
It just didn’t work out that way

it turned out PERFECT!!!! as is well known already, i LOVE Patrick's awesome piano and organ in here. Scott, your percussion is awesome! Mr. Holman rocks, Neil hits it perfectly on bass and tuitar, Terry and Roxy - wow - your vocals are superb. and JACK - this is put together AWESOMELY - all that work paid off, now ENJOY the fruits of your labor!

oh wow
elegant, eloquent and many other E words that would work... like Excellent. The B3 is spine melting. Nothing like Scott's live drums, and I am sure that Neil was his usual pleasant self. And of course the grace that Roxylee adds in- a must. Great work all !

Always love to have your voice on these songs Roxy
We spent a lot of time on this. You were probably wondering what happened to the project. Jack had this creature strapped to the gurney down in his laboratory for many days until he was sure he done everything he could do for it. I'm sure when he finished he was screaming "It's aliiive!!! Hope you remain open for more collabs, Roxy. You do wonders for these songs. Thanks

Supercalifragilisticollab
you got all manner of power players in this one. Great sound from top to bottom. The only think I heard was it sounds like the drums are a bit low in the mix realative to the main vox and the guitar strumming. That is a nit pick though, and I may be wrong. Enjoyed it. Great job to all of you.

upon further listneing
I would say the snare sounds at the right volume but the kick toms and cymbals are too quiet. Probably could be corrected with some EQ

Dream line-up on a GREAT song
Wow, look at all these talented musicians! I remember hearing this earlier, so great for this to break through to the light of day. I really like this song, it has a little bit of a "Bruce Hornsby" sound (which is really nice.) Well-written bittersweet lyrics, nicely sung. The mix is great (aside from possibly being slightly "bright" in the high midrange.) Roxy's singing is understated but supporting, Scott's drumming adds drive to this, and Neil and Patrick really fill this in with warmth. Vic's guitar work is sweet and is in just the right spots! Terry, excellent piece of writing here!

Drakonis

Really good songwriting here, nice use of parallel structure and opposites in the lyrics. Good hook. Great performances by everyone, I'd expect no less from this bunch of all-stars! Production is crisp, and all the instruments are standing out in the mix, great complementary sound choices.

what a great song Terry! this is catchy and sweet and i love the easy flow of the lyrics. Patrick's tearing it UP on that piano and organ!! Vic's guitar and Neil's bass are great, working well together to structure and move the song along. Great drums by Scott and RoxyLee, as always, sweet and pure supporting your vocals. I've been away
for a week and this is up :) Sounds good Jack, although as usual, I hear bits where I could have played better. The balance issues I mentioned "in correspondence" seem to have been ironed out. Everyone played really well on this, and I was very pleased to be invited. Terry, you ae some serious songwriter - and vocalist for that matter!
Highly hummable indeed.

Nice mix
That EQ'ing is coming along nicely....

Good song too, with lots of bits to enjoy. They bass sometimes sounds a tad behind the beat. Take a close look and just move it a bit.

Good mix in general: you're not falling in the "everyone plays all the time" trap, but sometimes the piano drops out in favour of that organ. The balance sounds good to me.

I am...
late to the game, but sure happy I stopped by for this very fine song, Terry. Wow. The opening reminds me of something Irish-y, but then you devolve into such a gentle rock 'n' roll/CW song. The little guitar licks and that tweety organ are so cool! This is not only mixed carefully, but your vocals are so very engaging — and CLEAR, thankfully. I can understand all the lyrics without help from your posted words. And, I must say, this is impressive from a collaborative standpoint, too. It all sounds so "together." Roxy's vocals are a pleasant and subtle addition in the background and your own harmonized vocals are perfect. Great piano leaks through, too. All in all, this is such a fine song and beautiful arrangement. I am happy to have heard it (and apologize for taking so long to get to it).
