$12 Hooker (non-explicit version)

Description
dave_b put out a song called March Jam (http://www.macjams.com/song/59949) I had always wanted another strat because of the really unique twangy tone of a strat. Hearing Dave's song convinced me to go out and get one.

Here's the guitar's debut. What a way to come into the earth with a song called $12 Hooker.

To Hackneyblooke, $12 USD= 7.89 GBP. Sorry but $7.89 Hooker is not going to work in this song.

Left channel guitar:PRS Mira
Right channel guitar: Fender Deluxe Stratocaster
Bass: Fender Deluxe P-Bass
Vocals: Presonus Bluetube amp
Plus one butt ugly hooker

This is not what some of you are going to expect... I promise you that!

Lyrics
$12 Hooker

She stands on the corner waiting for a trick
Some guy pulls over she says “Hey Slick”
Do you need some company just for a spell?
For just $12 I’ll treat you really well

(chorus)
$12 hooker you’re one beat to hell whore
I haven’t much money you’re all I can afford
But I know for just a time you’ll be so nice
You’ll be worth a girl who’s twice the price

She works so hard to support her addictions
She carries more than several afflictions
The sores on her body show the sickness inside
She charges as cheaply as she treats her life

(chorus)

Anything resembling a life you’ve left behind
You’re now an empty shell facing the grind
You’re hard to look at and you smell rather bad
Crack cocaine has turned you into this hag

$12 hooker
hey michael...this is amazing. it's got elements of 'the cure'...you know which bits i mean. and the mix is fab and the drums are hot and racy. jesus you have so many guitars. are they child substitutes? maybe you could have used euros in the title instead of pounds....do you know what a euro is...does any american know what a euro is? i think what's going on here is that you're gradually moving towards songs about having sex with a tv...probably me. i'm a 12 by the way...and can you accommodate?

$12 Euro Hooker
That sounds like one who won't rate well enough to make it on to the Red Light District in Amsterdam.

Isn't the Euro a dead currency? Yeah I vaguely remember hearing something about how Europe attempted to standardize their currency and eventually called it the USD.

I have three teenage daughters. That can send one into a mid-life crisis with serious gravity associated with it. Buying guitars makes me feel better. I won't stop until I have one for each day of the week.

I'm not so sure about the sex with a tv thing. I have a general rule about not having sex with anything plugged into an outlet.

Thanks for the humor... you crack me up Julian!

Very good
troubling and wry lyrics, skilfully delivered in a punky sort of New Wave ......why am I telling you this ,you already know this.

I cannot imagine what an explicit version would be like,oh uh oh hang on I just did....

The music is great and the contrast between the drive in the verse and the throbby bass and guitar slow build is really working for me.

Not what I expect
You're right! It's a great song, which I've come to expect from you.
But it's not what I expected in that it's a serious song. I thought it was going to be a bit comedic, but struck me as dark and thoughtful. It's absolutely terrific. Thanks for sharin'

It's funny Jay
I started out writing the song with the intention of throwing in all kinds of quips about a dirty cheap hooker. After going a bit the soundbed had an ominous sad feel to it and it became a lot more empathetic.

It's weird how stuff like that happens.

such a sweet song,
such tender sentiments. Actually, as you and others noted, it's really good but more empathetic than the title would lead you to believe--but it still rocks just fine. And I like the strat tone!

Thanks
Michael for listening and for the comments.

I really like the strat tone too. I had to play one with the distortion off to get the nice twanginess going.

The James Goodwill is a very cool song.

Alright Michael! Strat is sounding great, nice guitar lines, especially like the part where the 2 are weaving in and out. Another worthy entry into the Fast Eddie cast of characters.

I don't know if I'll ever be much of a blues guitarist but the strat is so good for so many other applications. Thanks for the motivation; it's my newest most favorite guitar.

Keep on cranking out those hot blues numbers my friend!

Blimey that's odd
I'm working on a song at the moment on exactly the same subject.

Synchronicity or what? (although mine may never see the light of day...)

This is great Michael. I like the fact you've not gone for the heavy guitars and you've used a lighter touch. It works really well.

Cheers

Dick

my poor timing doesn't discourage you from putting out your song! I'd love to hear it.

Stratastic!
Cool stuff Michael A!
A funky change of direction for you with that new strat sounding great, you cant beat that tone. That cleaner twang is just my thang.
The breaks are just awesome and i really DIG that classic surf style solo.
This was an unexpected sound from you but I am not surprised you pulled it off. The softer vocal really works but still delivers an image of slight menace :)
Now wheres the explicit version?

fasteddie said 2756 days ago (April 7th, 2010)
Explicit version
I dunno... my 12 year old nephew likes to listen to my songs. I've gotta keep em clean. Besides, my choices in lyrical content are typically pretty worldly anyway. I'm a bad influence.

Thanks for the listen Ed.

a song called 12 dollar hooker well
that's just tempie bait. for sure.

a 12 dollar gal who loves you like a 24 dollar gal? now that's return on investment.

the strat gives this a cool gothic hillbilly sound, but that voice is straight up whiskey-a-go-go. cool experiment dude i'm looking forward to hearing where you end up with this sound (i kept expecting to hear a traditional metal guitar freakout at some point).

for having a listen.

I got the American Deluxe model http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-American-Deluxe-Stratocaster-Electric-Guitar-423685-i1519077.gc

The mexican strats are OK; but I hear people complain that they don't stay in tune too well.

It's really nice; so far there have been no tuning issues on this one. Fender makes really nice locking tuners on the Deluxe model that IMO are even nicer than the PRS locking tuners. This model also has the new ultra quiet N3 pickups. My last strat was a noisy beast. These are killer in comparison.

Anyway, its an axe that I will enjoy for many years.

Way to deflower the little tyke
There's nothing like the sound of brand-spankin-new strings on a Strat. Especially if it's rocking hard like you've got her doing here. This is the way to deflower the little tyke, way to go. The lyrics are pretty repugnant; again, I say: Way to go. We need more of this kind of thing. It's friggin' ROCK, after all, not all of us (despite my age) are too old to appreciate crazy. Nicely done.

Repugnant
Thanks B6S for dropping by.

It's not easy coming up with repugnant stuff time after time.

I like this clean sound. I think that I may explore it some more. The one thing that is nice about it is that the way its mixed the bass stands out much clearer than with full distortion.

I'm lovin the twang.

Cool
Strat licks Mike, I like your chord progression in this, good composition. Drums are sounding smoother lately, are you using something new, or just getting the knack of programing those breaks and fills? sounds good!

Yeah I'm still using the same drum programming. I'm just getting more used to putting in the fills and stuff. The better I get at it the funner it's becomming. I'm starting to be able to highlight the song a little better.

Who knows after I while it might even start to sound more coherent.

Thanks for listening to this craziness. It's just about time to hear a new one from you. I look forward to that a lot!

Looking for fun
I was searching for the song "Show Me Your Tits" and found this. Where's the explicit version?! Nice guitar. I dug the mutes, the pacing changes, the internal build. You capture a feel of fun. Maybe you could smile more in your singing, sound less Springsteen and more Jagger, that might add to the sense of careless fun. Also, the song seemed to have too much instrumental, but maybe not. I like your ability to push the PC envelope...
