hold your head up
just got my weekly dose of the bandit. that makes the day.

nice one Tim, i like the dual voc's and the tune has a touch of soul that makes me feel unwinding and mellow.

Just the advice I needed
It's funny but that's just the advice I needed today. I need to get back in control.

Good stuff.

buck up little camper
man like all your stuff this walks a wobbly line between prog and pop. the verse for example - it starts with a reggae type melody (keep your head up) but quickly drops it for a more atonal sound and then returns to it for the last line 'stay in control'. this has a genesis feel (with peter g). dual vocals are really cool. i like that piano sound that comes in toward 3 min - also the washy distorted guitars that follow.

i'd love to hear a girl blues singer, somebody with an old timey voice, wailing over top of this...

remedy
Thanks for posting a new one. Haven't seen much of the "regulars" around in the last couple of weeks.

Trippy stuff brother. Nice remedy for a bad day.

Sort of a Phil Collins/Genesis groove here. Spacey synths and edgy growly guitars are an ironic backdrop considering the message in the lyric. Like this one.

Tasty treat of ethereal groove. Nice job on the vocal. Those "great gig on the sky" backup singers would come in handy right now :-) Loved the piano melodic riffs

I like the washy synth chords, nice textures...
satisfying bass and vocals too. cool song overall. neat when the plunky piano comes in with the freaky stereo effects.
enjoyed!

Very odd
Meandering yet holding the attention. A very interesting piece with a strange feel about it that I couldn't quite grasp.

Not easy listening!

Cheers

stay in control
great sound and pace for this one. I like that you don't overemphasize the structure of this song--it flows very naturally from part to part. Like that plinky sound (piano?) that enters after 3:00 too--it brightens up the latter parts without being too discontinuous.

Not
Jack Handy but a bit of encouragement and that is always a good thing. You are like Dali, surreal but rooted in real. Enjoyed the listen.

I thought
this was going to be one of those instrumental 'interesting sounds' songs and it is..... as well as those most original vocals... there's something about your voice and it's clarity I find really attractive and you show it off really well here... this is great, regards M

There are many contrasting parts here: clear voice, reggae rhythms, dark guitars. Like the mix (of styles) a lot. Always refreshing and inspiring music coming from you.

Definitely one
of your more accessible tracks. Has a great groove and very infectious vocal and lyric. Has an almost Motown feel. Wonderful track Tim.

Brainstorm vox treatment
Great, unique vox, really surprised me in the way its stark treatment meshes with the atmospheric backing. Quite a brainstorm. Pretty cool stuff, and a good message. Cool piano detail, btw.

Bad Day
I am not sure what I just heard, but I like it a lot!!!
"Stay in control" what a great hook, it keeps the theme of the song going throughout.
The music is a mind blower, I sense confusion thus adding to the Bad Day feeling.
Fab ending . . .

Tim
I've been on a bit of a sabbatical from Mj - just got to this on my backlog list. As always expected, this is wierd, but in a great way. More accessible than your earlier stuff (I think I've said that before relatively recently), and a damn good listen indeed.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Love those crazy guitars
I love the over the top guitar sounds. The lazy groove is an interesting contrast to those extreme guitar sounds. I also like the vocal arrangement where 2nd voices just seem to come from nowhere to accent different lyrics. This is very cool!
