Gentleman's Relish

Description
Decided to have a go at properly programming a drum track, lay over some reasonable keyboard and then play guitar over that. I usually jam to a drumtrack then slop some keys over and it is probably why a lot of the early Jarvoid stuff doesn't sound so great.I also re-introduced another old guitar that I forgot I had and I present a Madiera of the late 70's very early 80's era.

Go man go...
It was very enjoyable listening to you playing here--and as you mention, was very much in the style you mention, which I'm very fond of (Quentin Tarantino, the movie director, must be a fan of this genre too as uses it a lot in his films--and to very good effect). Well, for some 5 minutes, you made me forget I was doing my laundry and was somewhere else more glamorous. Great work on this Chris--thanks again!

Chris,

Cool blues guitar work. Nice feeling. I must have a guitar that I forgot that I had laying around somewhere.

Good stuff.

Yes, I
had put it up in the loft about 10/12 years ago and was rummaging up there for something else when I reacquired it,its got quite a gutsy tone that I don't recall it having ...although I do have a better amp and setup than before so that may be it.I,m hoping that I have also forgotten a grand piano I put up there ,but that may be a memory too far ! 80)

Chris! Great tone, great sound. Nicely done!

Jarvoid said 2798 days ago (April 17th, 2010)
Thanks Mark,
The guitar has more tone than I remeber it having and a certain abrasive harshness in the bass that takes some mellowing down but which gives a gutsy old blues sound...on the whole I think I like it better than I did when I was young and never played blues just very bad rock !!Cheers ,Chris.

the way I use all of the instrument and not just a bit of it ? Or all the instruments together lol 80)Sometimes the way I play it seems like I just put them in a big heap and kick the bejasus out of 'em ! Nice comment, cheers mate.Jarvo.

I did not
have a pot of Gentleman's Relish to photograph(it is an anchovy paste spread....one of those Marmitey type things, like or loathe,I like)but remembered Ole Beaky from holiday....vacation... and the Free Flight Enclosure South Lakes Safari Park and he is a male and appeared to be relishing his dinner....only he left it fussy bugger....apparently it hadn't got gamey enough.

You asked.................80)

Falling off my chair
I've got so laid back listening to this Chris. You and Steve would get on great, he loves nobbing around with blues scales just like this. Now when I saw this was called "Gentlemens Relish" I immediatly thought of that TV drama where Billy Connelly played an Edwardian photographer of "specialist gentlemens artistic portraits"!!(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0272635/) ....does have a bit of a sleazy sound to it!!!
Keep them coming. Cheers Mark

Och aye
I rmember that one...why has that never been repeated ?
I recall it as being quite entertaining....I think that you're right it has got a slightly sleazy sound, but that's the blues, they are kind of off colour, not quite proper and very naughty !Cheers,Mark

Laaaaaiiid back
Your tone and unhurried approach to this tune make it work well - the guitar is front and centre and doesn't have to compete with anything else in the mix. The backing drums and organ are spot on, filling the space supportively, but always letting the lead shine through.

Nicely done Chris!

For the way it was recorded
it sure came out sounding like a live track. Very interesting guitar tone, almost sounds like a wah pedal partially depressed at times. Dirty, nasty yet laid back. Cool tune man!

The pedal setting is a
on a Zoom 505 II and that is exactly the effect dscribed ! British crunch blues amp with some wah....spooky, recorded the git in one so that may account for the 'live 'sound.cheers for listening.thanks Jarvo.

A little echo goes a long way
Your guitar is a bit stark here. Use some delay or a spring reverb or something to fit it in the mix a bit better?

Otherwise kudos for the soloing.
