Lyrics
Ninety years ago, or thereabouts - these were the start of the last times. You better start to get your things in order, just look around you at the signs. They were knocking at my door to tell me what wasn't allowed and I know now that there isn't a chance I'll be welcomed to The Great Crowd.
Yeah - God is a bouncer.
Did you ever smoke a cigarette or even send a birthday card? If you did, don't try to get in. You won't get past Him cos He's hard. Have you ever been a soldier or have you spent your time getting pissed? You may as well just get off home cos you won't be on the guest list.
So what if you led a good life? Millions have you totally outgunned. His club has a capacity only for one hundred and forty-four thousand.
It's a holy club...

This is a very good song STE! I most enjoyed your vocal here (you have the kind of singing voice that very much appeals to me--clear and with thought to diction) and your bridge starting around 02:30 was just perfect for this. You do very fine work--thanks for posting this! Michael

'Somewhere between
Madness and Blur' yeah I'll buy that as a good description of this and your style. And I like the message which is that basically only the self righteouys think that they can go and live with their imaginary friend.....or something like.......now I have to go and clean volcanic ash off me car...Cheers ,Jarvo.

always wondered
why the JW's spent so much effort if they weren't going to get to go anyway. I always tell them to scoot along and go read what the Bible says in context.

Well played and sung - diggin the guitar parts.

Yeah, we've all been there. Usually on Saturday when I'm trying to watch a ball game. Nice clean production on another cool and quirky song. You have an impressively consistent, interesting, and entertaining style.

I've had
all of these emotions for sure, then I read the Bible myself and it's impossible to explain how horribly 99.99% of christians haven't or don't understand it, touchy subject glad you expressed your feelings though, great music, voice and production.

Yeah yeah yeah god is a bouncer is a fantastic line...made me laugh...and the sequence rocks. this is a great track...it really grows, has great hooks and a perfect through line with nothing clunky, although i would have ended it differently. a gem. me likey.

God is a Bouncer
What a great idea and a great concept. made me laugh. Like your stuff. it has elements of "The The" and a bit of an early 80's sensibility, that strikes a chord with my sensibilities. Good one and thanks for listening to my last one. Cheers mark

a couple of pulp fiction or tarantino references and I'd heartily agree. I had that vibe even before reading the comments. The guitar and vocal are fab. Top marks on the mix as well.

My parents used to have Witnesses coming round when I was a kid, along with Seventh Day Adventists and Mormons. They used to show us slide shows of the end of the world - I was only about seven and it really sh@t me up! Nice mix of styles - like Madness meets Pink Floyd. Kick drum may be a bit loud for my liking. Good stuff.

at first i didn't know if i liked the serious you but wow great chorus dude! the kind of danceable but wonky tune that we would have thought we were really smart dancing to in the 80's :) love those high backups in the chorus and the tremolo on the guitar throughout.

Nice work
Very clever lyrics in this one. I like the metaphor you used, pretty accurate in a lot of ways. Well put together with a memorable hook and lots of space and a nice groovy bass line. Enjoyed it! I think I am with hackneybloke on the ending. Could be a bit more memorable but not all that important either way. Nice job!

Sort of hypnotic and draws you in. Has a less immediate feel about it than some of your others songs but it really grows atronger as it goes on and sounds even better on a second listen

Go south; Hell's the hotter club scene!
You've got something useful to say here, and you make it fun. Even if I believed in the idealized heaven of the organized-religion crowd -- aka the politically social-engineered set -- I wouldn't want to spend eternity with the "heaven" types who sit around in white robes and listen to elevator music. I'd definitely rather be partying and jamming in the much hotter club down south. (Which is where I suspect we already are in this lifetime.)
