Angel blues
Nice playing, real nice. Gotta say, your voice sounds so sweet, hard to believe you've been to hell and back yet. You sound more like an angel, and if the devil ever grabbed you, you'd slip away without losing any feathers. Which I am envious of, by the way.

Vincent working it out
This one reminds me of the fellow that sang American Pie
and Vincent, can't recall his name, if he would try the
blues. Like someone who was a handle on their moods.

I Knew It
I actually first listened to this song a couple of times a
week or so ago. At the time I didn't want to make any
judgement because I knew it was a subtle song and
needed more listening. I was right! I like it much better
hearing it another two or three times. We really short
change each other listening once or twice before we
review. If you heard a song on the radio or bought the CD
you would hear it many times before making a final
judgement as to whether you like it or not.
Okay, got that out of the way. As to the song itself, my
first inclination was that it wasn't bluesy enough and then
realized I was falling into the same trap that a lot of my
own stuff has fallen into. You are very much an original in
the best sense. When you do a blues, it isn't a "blues" like
BB or Muddy, it is an Atwood song. The things I didn't like
at first, the sparsness and slow buildup, are the very
things I like now. And your quiet voice communicates very
well if you just give it time and listen. Now, like a lot of
your stuff, I want to learn it and figure out exactly what
you did. So nice job, I give it an overall 7.5.

I Knew It
Thanks Bronco. The only thing tricky about this piece is the tuning. It is not
standard. Since I use so many alternate tunings, it is sometimes hard for me
to keep them straight, but I believe for Figure Out Love, the tuning was
DADADF#. (This tuning puts a strain on the strings, and probably the guitar,
so you can also tune it CGCGCE and capo up 2.)

In this tuning you end up with an open D chord, barring the 5th fret for G,
7th fret for A. Also, I think this piece could easily be played in standard
tuning, it's just that some of the runs would be much different. But the
chords are pretty simple, D - G - A.

I think you are right that this does not really resemble a typical blues piece.
You are much more adept at that than I am. I love the blues, but don't really
have the right voice for it.

Thank you for taking the time to carefully listen to this piece.
