Description
it gets to a point where you just wanna give up. you see years of work yeilding nothing...in our lives we make terrible decisions...and we do the best we can living with the consequences...

when my western digital backup disk crashed it took with it my first four years of studio recordings, when you back you should make 2 copies....anyway, i was digging thru iTunes folders and found and old completed soundbed, with no guitar solos or anything...and it was just a nice thing to find. Tonight after another show where the band was playing very well to 19 people...i felt like blowing off the total frustration and feeling of failure, I set up the gear and did a ambient track of cello-ie shit, and then one take solo. this is it with a quick mix.

i love playing music

thanks for listening, MJ

me too Fran!
19 people - there's really not any justice is there?
This sounds great Fran - nice mix, lovely playing. What more can I say?
Cheers from Oz,

sorry for your lose
Fabulous guitar work. You've got soul man and nothing will take that from you.

Bravo

Do you have copies of the tracks you lost? Did you just lose the masters?

Been There Man!
I feel your pain and hear it as well in your playing. I've been in the place you're in. It drove me right out of the gigging game. Been out three years now. It got to where I resented the instrumented I once loved. I was giving it all I had and just wasn't getting back what I thought it should. Luckily I have a job that supplies me with a purpose in life. Family, friends, they all help. I'll tell you though, GarageBand and MJ have been musical saviors. There's a reason to play again and a place to be heard. You have way more than 19 people listening to you here.

Nicely done!
I have no real experience like you mention. my "band" days were always to packed parties and bars. But I can imagine the frustration. This came out col. Dreamy like.

we never know
when fate will deal her hand... but if we were strong and talented like you, we would turn any loss into beauty, as you've done here. I just get lost in your music, Fran... very soulful, and skillfully played... one take huh? (shakes head...) I will try not to regret what I'll never learn to do, but I will tell you I truly appreciate what you have learned to do!

Oh Man
I'm sorry for your ill-attended gig, but THIS is wonderful Fran! I wish you would REGULARLY take time to make music this way and put it up on MJ. You have many fans here who are going to love playing this till it breaks! sigh ... your guitar truly does weep! (gently, even)

regret
seems like a strong word. Especially for such a beautifully mournful blues. I think your "end of the night jams after gigs" would make a nice CD effort :-)

I sat in with friends last night and by the end of the night the staff outnumbered the stragglers. However, being with lifelong friends, and sharing the laughs and music, it was still better than anything I could think of doing.

Fran, you are one of the most accomplished players I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Success is relative. I think headlining at the AJC speaks for itself.

19 people...
...who got treated to a great show, I'm sure...

I played a bar, Friday night. About 15-20 people, I guess. But the night was beautiful with a breeze off the bay, coming through the open front door...great vibe...good times to remember.

Gotta keep on keepin' on, z...and this is one great way to do it...

Every Path
to success is filled with obstacles. Consider you have passed a few more, and by the sounds of this piece, you are still well on your way. Reminds me a bit of Robin Trower - dark, but very cool. enjoyed the listen - thanks!

Award for best vocals played on a guitar.
Your "vocals" are really nice here. Your big risks start at around 5:20, I can feel you sweating to find the right "words" to play, ,and it pays off in the emotion I get from this. Here more than ever I'm noticing a really tight integration of the wham-bar in your expression. What next? Planning to forsake the pick? TONE: GREAT. Sounds naturally overdriven and the delay's just right on those highs, sounds like a soaring eagle (with a Strat in its talons). THX for the DL.

I
have felt like this MANY times. It's kind of like if there were thousands of basketball players way better than guys in the NBA that never went anywhere. That will never happen 'cause it's real obvious if a guy can play or not. In music it's real easy to fake it- jump around, look cool, etc, most people don't know anything about good or bad musicians.I was playing in a jazz trio at a party once and a guy came up and said "Don't you guys know how to play anything good? " Another time we were asked to leave after 4 songs, we were "ruining the atmosphere" The crap top 40 bands I've been in- "You guys are great" (after we played "Love Shack" )If it's any consolation, I totally love your playing, you have the spirit of Duane,Jeff, Jimi,Freddy... If you played basketball you'd be a star on the Celtics.

It has always been obvious that this is so Fran. So sorry to hear of the loss of all those recordings. I would have been devastated...But what can one do but keep on at the things we love?

Beautiful job here augmenting this old sound-bed.

Be well friend!
