Description
This is a new version of a song that a friend of mine and I wrote one evening in 1989. It's about how it feels when you meet the right one. There are a lot of changes in this new version that I think make it much better, but you will have to judge that for yourselves. All tracks were written and performed by me, but Lisa shares in the credit for the lyrics.

Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for listening.

Ed

The Best Country Picking,
I've heard at MJ's. And then it goes all R&B. Nice blend of genres. But that lead guitar juuuuuuust kills.

Thanks Andrew
This was an old R & B number originally, but I wanted to do a new production on it that had some bite. Why I did it the way I did, I don't know, but I sure like the energy it has now.

Glad you enjoyed the track and I do appreciate the kind words about it. Thanks again.

Actually Chris,
it's the new amp sim in Logic Express 9 that I'm getting that sound out of. It's kind of amazing the combination of amp heads and speaker cabs you can get it Logic's new amp simulator. You can even adjust for mic type and placement. Works rather well I'd say.

Thanks for listening Chris, and the kind words old friend.

Keep the beat goin... baby!
This is a fatter version, the slower tempo provides a little more space to sink the metaphorical teeth into. It's got something of an '80s club feel with the reverbed drum and maybe-Latin? beat. Plus you reel me in with the touch of roadhouse you've got in the lead guitar riffs. And I've gotta like any song that brings us "baby" that way, recalling the piece of rock & roll soul that will never die.

nice stuff
Nice rockin' music and feel in this, like the lyrics, but the singing is great and the guitar work is splendid. During the chorus there's some flanging on the backing plucky guitar there that sounds a little strange (I'd let it play through straight, it sounds a little like a warped reel-to-reel tape.) Really excellent stuff here!

Drakonis

Glad you enjoyed the song, and I appreciate the kind words.

As for flanging, I can't hear it because of my hearing loss, and the fact I have 3 broken hearing aids. (I only have the 3 so there ya go)

Once I get one fixed I'll go back and see if I can hear what you mentioned.

Anyway, thanks for the listen. Be well and be cool,

Smokin'
As I only have time to listen to about one tune on MJ every three or four months - argghh! - I'm glad I checked in on this one.

Thunderous drive here, and more than a bit of sweat and fire cooking up the core. I LOVE the funkin' guitar pumping energy into the heartbeat (hah!) of the song; so many guitarists don't think about the rhythm that makes everything come together, they just crack off a sizzling lead - then punch out and go home. But rhythm guitar is a blend of secret, golden alchemic magic that can make a hot song smoke with tension, and Ed...........

You've got the touch!

How in hell
did I miss this one. This has a 70's vibe I cannot shake and I'm not tryin very hard lol hmmmmm there is some guitar work that I have heard somewhere before in thiss lol. (The waka waka guitar ) sounds kinda like what I was doin in Slow Burn lol.... Is it great minds think alike or fools seldom differ? None the less a top drawer production Ed.

Well there Guy
There's just so many loops, and they do make the rounds. This has a lot of loops in it, along with some of my own playing. But for this kind of song, I didn't want anything to take away from the song, so I hired out some pro's from Apple's stable to give me a hand. They're very good, ya know, and they work cheap too.

Thanks for listening, Guy. Glad you liked the way it came out.

This is one of my oldest songs. Originally written in 1989, I've done several versions of it, but this one is the best yet. All the others were pretty tame next to this one.

I will admit, that some of those guitars are loops and some are mine. Which is which I'll leave for speculation.

Thanks again for listening, and the kind words on the song, Kic. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Glad you like the sounds on this one my friend.

As for the lead break sound, it's done with a 70's era Marshal head sim in Logic with a 4x12 slant top cab sim running about 8-1/2 on the gain, and 8 on the master. Also using about 6 on the reverb in the amp. Recorded with a ribbon mic. I also used a 1.2:1 compression ratio set down to -34db on the compressor plug in in Logic.

The opening rif is on a Blues Blaster amp sim using a Fender 1x10' cab sim/ 7.5 gain, 5 master and reverb at 4 using a ribbon mic.

Both of these sounds were added using Logic Express 9's Amp designer on live guitar parts after the were recorded dry and direct into the track. The Amp sims were added after the recording was finished.

Thanks for listening my friend, and I appreciate the kind words on the song.

Be well and be cool,

Ed
