Description
I recorded this back in 07 and I always liked this song so decided to give a go. As usual more time spent mixing than recording. At that time I was suffering from some sort of bug so my voice was not up to par. This virus has taken it's toll, though it's improved since then, my voice is still not back to what it was. Such is life!
Recorded in Garage Band and remastered in Logic ex. I hope you like my version of 500 Miles.

My mother loved folk music and I remember hearing a recording Peter, Paul and Mary did of this (also known as "The Railroader's Lament). Your vocal really imparts that sense of desperation in the lyrics (and you sound just fine!). Your accompaniment is solid and I particularly enjoyed the harmonica solo in there. Ya done great--thanks again!

Great Sound
Love the guitar sound. That along with the brush drum kit is such a great sound. I love your vocal. There's a melody/spoken word thing that's very Lou Reed. Great harmonica playing, very melodic. The wah (is that a guitar) on the right is a very interesting and a nice touch. Great arrangement, playing, singing, and production.

Well
certainly made your own personal impact on this and given it a downbeat sorrowful atmosphere, which is cool with me.The versions I have previously heard have been uptempo and upbeat but Isuppose it can rightly go with either viewpoint.Nice job.

Who doesn't like this song? And jibes, you give your own special take... sort of a swingy, jazzy, bluesy thing. I dig it. Keep 'em coming dude.

Really well-crafted arrangement and mix. World weary vocs convey the lyric well.

I have always loved this song....
My mother plays this every time she sits at the piano and at any given time 3 or 4 of us kids will sing along. I like the lazy laid back feel of it and your harp work is a wonderful touch. Insta fav and D/L
Peace

Great take in an excellent song
I had the Peter Paul and Mary version as a kid and loved it - still do. This works really well. The rhythm is good for the tune and your vocal sounds great.

Good version
An old favourite that you do justice to. Nice relaxed feel but with a bit of pain coming through the vocal. Much enjoyed.
