Description
Originally recorded back in February. At that point i wasn't sure if i was going to do vocals or what exactly. so i added a solo over it for the time being, then pretty much went on to other projects and pretty much forgot about it.

jump ahead to this last memorial day, i had the folder on my desktop, not sure what song it was. i thought the solo on it wasn't to bad, so i added a backing synth pad. plus i added a wah plug in to the solo. i had to draw in the in the wah's rocker through the animation. and pretty much decided to leave it at that.

An understated jazzrockblues monster
I love the riff, which conducts the rhythm through those jumps. Really great feeling of progress, one step to the next. I like the changes you as a lead and rhythm guitarist put "the rest of the band" through. You've got a style and a sound that works -- high and dry (vs. my wet and slightly more muted lead mixing ways.) I need to download this to enjoy it ... as well as study it. It's really an understated jazzrockblues monster.

Thanks Bob
i jam around the house playing a lot of blues type stuff, but rarely record 'em. this has a lot of jazzy blues chords that i never can remember the names of. i practiced the solo a few times over the music. and was lucky to get the solo in one take after i hit record.

You really
have a way of making guitars talk man! These all speak volumes about the song. It has kind of a broken beat feel which fits nicely.

Excellent Vic!

when i recorded this 4 months ago i had thought i was going to redo the solo. but after listening to it the other day i thought it was fine to let it be. i have no idea what the time signature is during the verse, but it felt right.

Guess Indigo A didn't quite make the grade...LOL!
Well no matter, Indigo B is a gem!

Wow Vic, rare to hear an instrumental from you. This one sparkles!

Love the tone your getting on that lead bro. A very nice blues track from you, with jazz overtones...BRAVO!

Be well my friend!

The "B" is for the blues. originally i had not decided if i was going to add vocals or not. that's why it sat on the hard drive all this time. at that time i put the solo on until i decided what to do, after re-hearing it after the 4 months i thought, what the heck, i'll just go with that.

Broken bars
This is excellent Vic. More than excellent. Awesome.

Those odd bars. The seemingly straight bluesy but then strange chord progression. Those colored synths flying over. The mutating solo scale in the screaming guitar. Everything works like an alarm clock that keeps you comfortably awake.

If I listened to this somewhere else I would thought I missed the release of the hidden Zappa tracks.

i can't name most of the chords used or the time signature in the verse part, but they seemed to sound right. i didn't want it to come off as a more familiar blues sound, so that's how this came about.

i appreciate the listen!

Nice Guitar Playing
The slightly phased sound gives the guitar an Abby Roadish sound. Nice chord changes. So much more to them than just a blues. I like that you're playing a melody and not just riffing. I like the odd measures. Nice light tremolo on the rhythm guitar.

more then 3 chords
i thought if i was going to do a bluesy tune it would have to go a little bit more then tried and true, so more chords seemed to bring about a good melody for the lead guitar to grab ahold of something.

i appreciate your time for the listen

one of the things i can play that no one knows about. i had thought for a few years that if i was going to do a swan song at this site it would be a blues instrumental, i guess i lied.

I'm not a blues guy
But damn, if this is blues (yeah sure it is), I change my mind instantly. The broken bars indeed, but also the whole sound and atmosphere. Don't know what it is that makes me saying this, but I can lively hear it as a movie track. Sweet tune, mate.

i rarely listen to blues music myself, but i know how to play it. this is probably more of a combination of blues, jazz & rock. at least that what i keep telling myself.

excellent new song of yours, I'm so glad it posted it.

man
this is something different from you...don't know if i've heard a vic holman instrumental. i imagined it more prog and was pleasantly surprised by the traditional elements. love the jazz core of this. And then when you do go prog - around 1:52 - it's a really beautiful kind of interlude. Great stuff. I don't have many instrumentals on the ipod but this is headed that way. Really like the fluctuating moods. And when you want to burn it you can certainly do so man, great playing.

i'm usually leary about guitar instrumentals unless there is something of a melody going on. i do have a more rocking instrumental that i came up with some years ago and have yet to record. think satriani meets eric johnson.

Excellent blues
guitar work. I haven't played with a wah in so many years. I had forgotten how cool they can be. I had to listen twice because there is a rundown at about 2:26 that I found particularly sweet.

Oh, I like!
nice intro lead-in with that guitar. Mellow blue. Vic, this is dripping with coolness! I dont know that I have heard an instrumental from you. But this thing choice. This is a mood maker... (by the way, I dig that little harmonic thing). But the star is your restrained lead guitar part. It sings!

Kudos,
D

Very cool. I'm getting a hint of Floyd and Zappa but with a distinct and unique style of it's own. The sound is great and the performances more than competant. I like it a lot.

a little unusual time signature especially in the verse parts. but it seems to be the way it wanted to play out. throw in some variety of 6th, dim 6th, 7th and 9, #9th chords it is sure to sound different, but still blusey i hope

He like blue too.

Cool tune. Some unexpected chords to keep it interesting, and a great lead part. At 1:55 I was expecting that chorused part to take the lead. After all. the other guitar has been playing continuously. Bit of variety?
