Showdown

Description
This is a short but epic piece I wrote yesterday.
I've always wanted to try and write a heroic piece of some sorts. I came close with Eye of the Storm, but that wasn't exactly heroic enough to satisfy my desire. So yesterday I wrote this imaginary cue about a showdown (not the final showdown, mind you - the open ending is intentional) between the good guy and the bad guy.

So... enjoy!

Outstanding
First of all you nailed exactly the atmosphere you were looking to create. How you go about composing and arranging such a complex piece of music is beyond me.

I will say this, the strings at the top have such a unique sound in their bow strokes. The brass has that triumphant sound one would associate with a hero. The theme from 1:03-1:13 is amazingly original, wonderfully written, and brilliantly orchestrated.

I actually think there's an opening credits quality to this piece. Your music deserves so much more exposure and recognition than MJ can hope to provide.

showdown
wow Einar this is truly epic. I absolutely love the ending of the piece, from 2:25 until the end. brilliant use of percussion and those low bass bounces on the strings. very very nice. throughout the rest of the piece, i think the main theme repeats maybe one too many times for me. i kept wanting to hear a bridge or even the introduction of another theme briefly. wow, the sound quality you've achieved here with the low strings and low brass is just awesome. a really exceptional composition and production einar.

into the sky
My bi-plane just took some shrapnel but undaunted I fly into the smoke filled sky. My teeth are as tightly clenched as my determined resolve to complete my mission. The Chancellor's daughter and her young son are waiting in a remote field. Waiting for their rescuer. If only they knew how frightened he was. I see the field. I bank left and down and am obscured by the white haze and dark smoke of battle.

I don't know why...
... but Prince of Persia came to mind INSTANTLY! So I guess that you captured the heroic theme that you've been lookin for in this song. Fantastic writing, instrumentation, and mix.

You're one talented dude... man, this was breathtaking!

Those Nordic guys and their heroism...
This has got impact on top of impact, Einar... Every musical element moves it forward and gives it drive and intensity...

As always, you've got great sounding instrumental sounds... I like the bit of grit in the bass end and in the horn sounds... Nice use of width and depth in the mix, too...

I'm ready for the movie now...

Drama
This sounds great on the headphones. Even without your description I think I would have imagined a showdown of some sots so the piece works well in it's descriptive intent. Very dramatic. Just need the film to go with it. Cheers Mark

I really enjoyed the suspense in the music. It kept me very intrigued waiting for the next move for the good guy and the bad guy! You did a great job here and I enjoyed it very much.

dude
Sound quality is nothing short of amazing. All elements have their place and everything is drawn with a calm hand and clean strokes. Once again, impressive, and cheese! if only they knew they could get a soundtrack close to the Bourne and X-Man franchise without hiring John Powell...
