Ambient Mindscape #1

This mix reflects some of my lack of a fully setup music making computer. I don't have all the licenses to authorize some of my packages, so I'm fully working with free plugins here.

The idea behind the piece is one of the listener making up their own mind about what they hear and the journey the soundscape will take them on. I've called it a Mindscape because that's where the picture is that the music evokes. Soundscape of the Mind is another way to approach the piece.

The 'music' is based on a music score but with sounds triggered rather than notes, hence the Experimental tag. (It's a long mix by the way).

As always I am receptive to your opinions, of any flavour.

Very Dark
and a little strange. You are branching out it seems. Reaching into the darkness. This could be someones last moments of life on a far distant outpost of humanity.

Hi Martin.....
The branching out is due to my limited sound-making arsenal due to me having to rebuild my laptop. I put this piece together with minimum plugins on hand and the quiet, almost muffled sound was intentional.

Thanks for your thoughts on the piece. They give me other visions that I can work with as well as adding depth to my imagination whilst listening to this mix.

Take care.

I am in
the large underground cave, called The Ballroom at Mammoth Caves, in Kentucky. When the string of electric lights are turned off, it is the most pitch black place on earth. Everyone stands still and catches his or her breath because this is the sensation of being utterly blind. You hear silence, literally. Very evocative peace. :)

Hi Char.....
Your description of Mammoth Caves sounds terrific. I bet its a most wonderful experience!! I'm happy that my piece didn't evoke nightmare scenes or unsettling memories.

Take care.

Leaning more towards a darkish vibe, but not completely. Very nicely put together, I dig it!

Hi Raven...
Yes. I agree that there are lighter moments in this mix. It is definitely a strange mix but I feel better knowing that the listener is not being taken straight to Hell!! Ha ha. If you do find yourself there, you'll see me over in the corner with the white hat on.

Take care.

Hi Rok41....
You've listened to it twice!!! And at work!!!! I hope you still feel OK. Ha ha. I thought that listeners would maybe listen to a minute, pause the noise, than dip in a bit more later in the day (or never again).

Thanks for listening and your time to feed back. They are fiddly pieces sometimes but this one just fell together in a couple of hours.

Take care.

Hi Harald.......
I'm glad that your experience whilst listening to this mix, was interesting. It's a very unusual mix but one with some potential, hopefully. I'll be developing the theme in the far distant future.

Take care.

Genre Info
Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
