Lyrics
She Walks Away

Wanting of another chance
Wishing for another dance
Always playing with my mind
Always wasting all my time
Knowing that our love is lost
Save the bond not worth the cost
What’s there to save?
What’s there to save?

Roller coaster of emotion
Wish for some magic potion
Can I change this person here?
Make aware of my fears?

Chorus
Here’s this girl I called my friend
Swore I’d love her to the end
Promised that we’d work things through
Start each day like it was new
But it soured and turned to trash
Locked the door and closed the latch
Had the perfect things to say
Watched her as she walked away

Fires are lit they heat my soul
Drains my will and takes a toll
Wanting to hold on so tight
Feel the warmth into the night
Knowing that this chapter ends
Yearning to relive again
Seeing that she needs to be
Free to go and free from me

There is a light at the end
And with some time will mend
Someone will come around
Grass grows on barren ground

Chorus

And with time memory fades
Brief glimpse of familiar face
And with time all has healed
No more pain do I feel
She walks away
She walks away
She walks away

Chorus

The hard work shows. This is heavy. Some interesting and unexpected chord changes. Reminds me of The Cult!

for always listening to my stuff. Yeah I guess it does kind of sound like the Cult. I wouldn't have made that connection unless you had mentioned it.

for the listen. I have a PRS Mira. It is pretty nice. It has a brighter sound then my other metal guitar ('87 Hamer Sceptor). I probably should have used the Hamer for the lead work on this one.

whatever after the remix turned out very cool. Good stuff.

Buggrit mate
you had my attention at the artwork then the intro...and now the rest just rocks...I get the BOC reference too.

The "drumming" is awesome, sounds very real,I get really hacked off with drum progs and usually end up binning the project or adapt to a genre that doesn't necessarily need 'em.

Way to go,this is great !!

Thanks Chris
I started off programming and it took a really long time and plenty of practice to get it to the point where it is now. The really great part of programming is that I can select different drums, make the kit as big as I want and eq each of the drums separately. Plus it sounds like the drums were meant for the song.

You're about due for a new song. I liked Chinese Laundry Blues.

Rocks hard, very sophisticated arrangement and production sounds terrific. This song represents growth for you as a songwriter b/c it merges your hard rocking side with more sensitive lyrics.

I rearanged the structure several times. It was difficult cutting enough out just to keep the song at 5:00. Usually I try to keep my songs at 3:30 because most people start loosing any interest pretty quickly. Plus the vocals were tough. It was not as smooth as usual.

I look forward to your next one.

Hard work?
It sounds very effortless, but that's a good sign when you work hard on something because (as I think you alluded to here earlier in a response) a lot of times it has a "labored" feel to it (and I've been there many times myself!). This really breathes, has some marvelous turns in it and I know I enjoyed listening---great job on this, truly! Thanks again Mike--take care now!

Thanks Michael
as always for listening and the nice comments.

It's true with music that hard work often doesn't equate to a good song. This one was a little more difficult as far as structure and some other things. The basic riffs came pretty easy the rest was diffult. The subtle things like building intensity are often hard to get right both with the playing and the mix.

you're such a drama queen
and a good thing too man. this is intense. makes me feel like i'm driving my beat to shit honda accord with the duct taped door and shaking my mane to cinderella on the way to school. love the little breaks with the drum vamps. your voice is in top form too. although i couldn't help wanting some operatic screeching. solo is spot on - would have been easy to overdo it - i like the straight ahead approach you took. all around fun man, thanks for the DL.

for always dropping bu and having a listen.

Drama is right! My next song ain't gonna have no drama; its called "Just a Kick in the Teeth". With a title like that there can't be any drama.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to add some timely screaching which is probably easier said than done though.

good feel on the intro then beefed up nicely before the verse. verse driven well. guitar playing fits well. guitars progressive around 2:00. vocals cool and fit well, chorus fine, middle 8 nice contrast. solo fits well, not an over-the-top burn out. enjoyed it cheers

Rockin
good stuff here Mike, I really dig those chord changes and awesome composition. The only crits I have are with the vox. I't seems as though you work real hard on getting the guitars and drums sounding tight, but you dont put as much energy into making the lyrics flow as smoothly as they could. I hear you struggle to get some of the lines out, and it sounds like you are too impatient to do more takes? The lyrics you write deserve more attention, dont sell yourself short! As somebody else said, I think some more harmonies couldnt hurt either. But that could get in the way of your heavy style, so who knows? I think a colab with a female vocalist would be really interesting, think about it.
Over all though, each project from you is better than the last(TiT's?), so keep that shit coming my friend!
Hope that wasnt too harsh from your old friend Nick.
Peace

for having a listen and for the time to comment.

I'll have to give the vox more effort.

Part of that is that the guitar comes so easy. I can do most of the guitar stuff in two or three takes. The drums I can now program about a minute's worth of song in about 30 to 45 minutes. I expect the vox to come just as fast. Thanks for the heads up.

I would love to do a collab with a female vocalist. That would be cool.

Fun Song
As others have mentioned, the music and progressions remind me a lot of the Cult. But, I swear, early on the song your voice is a dead ringer for Tad.

It's obvious you put a lot of effort into the production on this one. I can't imagine that it was easy to mix. Really nice job. My only minor quibble is that I feel like the vocal gets a bit choppy and loses fluidity when you transition into the chorus. But it is a really minor thing, barely noticeable.

Really like the guitar sound, very thick and dense. Nice solid playing too.

One of your best
in my humble O. A little more serious than most of your tunes. Nice layering of guitars. I also noticed that your vocals are delivered in two different modes, one with the edge, and one without. I think that's a nice touch. Tending toward melodic. :) The break after 3:00 was very effective. Good to have that dynamic variation. Very solid arrangement. It's a good feeling when all that hard work pays off, isn't it? Rock on.

I had the great opportunity to play on Ted23s version of your song. Bet you never thought you'd hear sax on your tune? Anway, I love both versions. On your original, I particularly think the chorus, vocals and the guitar riff is stellar. Tons of energy and attitude. Guitar solos are blazing and spot on, guitar tones are sounding just right.

What a great compliment to have someone cover your material.

Nice stuff!

came to this via ed's cover. sorry i missed this mike...i had to come and see how good it could be given that ed's is sublime. and now i see why he was keen to have a crack at it. i love the intro...before it gets all fast eddie rock ha! but even then it retains integrity because it's interesting rock. i can see why ed loved the chorus so much - a gem. love the return to the guitar solo intro sound halfway through. definitely a grower mike...can you be converting me to the american rock genre? no - fuck off!...but this is really cool...especially the last section with the solo guitar riffing out to the end. i really like those little cymbal rolls you do on this one...one in the middle...and the one at the end. well done bro....you nearly converted me....nearly.
