Lyrics
A once confident and inquisitive mind has been crushed irrevocably by 20 years of pointless rules and assumed inferiority.
The endless bureaucracy. Fills in his name and files it.
When he's at home he tells his wife when he's going to the toilet.
A sense of permanent dejected anxiety, with his head down and his eyes averted it's very clear he's so kowai so.
Shitsureshimashita. Sumimasen.

Great backing - love the pulsing keys
very early Eno for bit there. I'm also a fan of run on lyrics and open structure songs - along with your solid vocals this is a hit in my book.

I think I know this bozo...
...you should receive an award for this one--who among us hasn't had the "pleasure" of working with one of these clams. For this alone, I enjoyed your song immensely, notwithstanding the outstanding delivery and production you brought to it! Good work here!

You know
sometimes Ste I get the impression that you don't really like the culture that you are trying to embrace,I can't quite put my finger on why that should be ,hmmmmm?

I like the delivery on this as ever it has the stripped back Brit Pop/Rock sort of delivery skating close too Ian Drury and the Blockheads now and then, great stuff.Glad you liked the picture of Blackpool on my latest.

Cheers, Jarvoid.

Another
one of your superb original sounding songs Ste... great bass and instrumentation..... can't think who your vocal reminds me of especially with your non-Blackpool accent (I'm going there tomoz for a couple of days; Thornton Cleveleys actually, to keep it posh LOL)..... enjoyed this, though it was short and sweet, regards M

Lotsa cheek, dazzling focus
This dazzles me with its pure dead-on focus! Your poor colleague ... do people really find him creepy and disturbing? He seems normal for anyone whose mind has been crushed by 20 years of bureaucracy -- er um, or so I would imagine...

The cheekily detached observation here has moved me to download this and put it side by side with -- if you care to hear my references --some XTC faves (post Go2 but pre Drums & Wires), and Richard Thompson's Mock Tudor album (where he took time out from slitting his veins over love to rip on suburbia).

More coolness, and such a great flow to the lyrics. It's so refreshing not to hear the same verse-chorus-verse stuff.

Tragedy Delivered in a Witty Way
Okay, so this is the second song I have listened to of yours, and you just have an insane (GOOD insane), visionary wit. Wry lyrics, wry music, wry vocals . . . . just awesome. Of course, the lyrics seem somewhat tragic to me, but the song has an ironic flair that alienates the listener's emotion enough to just enjoy the song. (Huh??? I know what I mean, but you probably don't know what I mean, and I don't know how to say what I mean. Anyhow, this is really good.)
