Description
Another one of my little Nature pieces. Thanks to Karen and Kate for feedback. Sorry I've been so off and on lately about being here. Life has been crazy but I finally found a job! Which means I'll probably be here even less for awhile - don't forget me! And I'll try to get in for some listening as often as I can.

Enjoy.

Wetlands Waking
I love when the serious composers here at mj describe their music as "little." (Little piano ditty, little nature pieces.............PLEASE!)

This is beautiful. I love the plucked strings. Those and the staccato bowed notes really help evoke the images of nature. This is a lovely piece and the arrangement of piano and strings suits it wonderfully.

Congratulations on the new job. You would never be forgotten here!

lol...when I say little I mean one of two things - either it only took me a couple of days to write or I only used a handful of instruments instead of an entire orchestra. Thanks for stopping by Andrew!

strings sounding like a tuneful frog chorus in the background as the piano slips further and further forward.Very nice piece, wonderfully rendered and produced....a toe in the water of the wetlands indeedy.....is that a swamp?

Glad to hear from you and to hear that you found a job... Sad to hear you found a job for your music is always so good that anything that takes way from it makes me said.

"little nature pieces"
..hmmmm ...to quote Andrew...."PLEASE" ! Shay it appears Logic is becoming your friend. Sound is just great. Love after walking about the piano lets us just stop a bit in wonder..then on deeper in to a magical journey thru our inheritance (nature and all it's beauty) .. there you go...not many folks inspire me to use all the words I know... but you do. Downloaded.

ah, this is not the music job. this is the church job - the church with the baby grand piano! oooowweeeeeeee! yes a bit unusual. this piece was a piano improv and I pretty much left it as I played it with the unusual key changes (for me) and the occasional odd rhythm jumps. but I think those things give it a sort of whimsical feel which I really like. Thanks for listening dragon.

not really a rational connection - but an emotional one in the beginning. I really love where you took this. Your new work has opened up in some really interesting ways. You seem very free in your thinking and assured in your touch. Wonderful work.

interesting
i've only heard Porgy and Bess once in my life so I can't speak to that connection, but i'll take your word for it. ;-) i've really been enjoying the broadened horizons Logic gives me, as well as having better orchestral software. I've pretty much been going into each song without any agenda other than to explore. it's thrilling to see where each piece ends up. i'm glad you're enjoying them. thank you kevin.

in the evolution of this song, that main violin part was played by....the piano, an english horn, a flute, a cello, and....i think that's it. lol...it's always amazing where things finally end up. thanks for listening and for the congrats!

Nice
OK it's great music to sip your coffee to in the morning. I can tell that you are actually pushing your boundaries a bit with this piece. You are using some innovative and creative techniques to tell your story here. The movement between the strings and piano works to establish a different mood with each change - the strings being more light and airy (like frogs getting their first jump of the morning) while the piano is intraspective and somber (flowers opening up to the new day, sort of). And in the end you bring yourself (and all of us) back to the beginning quite nicely, but with piano only - and it is a very nice transition.

Well done work - shows a lot of musical maturity, and again, very enjoyable to listen to. Thanks Shay -
Sig

Nicely done
Very lyrical piece. Are you using a damper pedal on the piano? It seems to my ears that some of the notes especially in the lower register damp quickly allowing the reverb to carry the sound instead of the piano's natural sustain. It's a cool effect. Everything else is up to your usual standard too. Beautiful piece.

this sounds very english....early twentieth century classical english. i mean that in a good way. i half expected to hear peter pears to burst into song...but glad he didn't. the strings sound like the real deal...and i really like the way you drop down to a minor semitone just for a second....and then bring it back all positive again for the rest of the phrase. congrats on the job (both of them).
