Description
I've been listening to a lot of early Krautrock lately. Can, Neu, Agitation Free, Amon Duul, etc. This is the result.
All handmade - no loops - except for the ones I made live while playing the rhythm guitar with the Boomerang Phrase Sampler recorded with a mic off my amp. That was the first step - everything else came later - including the drums punched beat by beat on a keyboard. The synth sounding lead is my bass played with an EBow.

Bud you must post a picture of your entire musical equipment toy (tool) box. Every time you post a track I think to myself, oh he has one of those too! I wish you had posted the lyrics. The vocal treatment is cool but it makes some of your lyrics difficult to understand.

Very cool and original guitar and bass sounds. I like the twangy lead lines at 1:00. I also like the tremolo effect on the sustained guitar at 1:35. Kind of like an organist manipulating a Leslie speaker with the foot pedal.

By the way I have no idea who those artists you mentioned are. I have homework to do. I'm so mainstream.

Gee thanks Alan - lots of detail in your comment
most of my toys are very lo-fi - old school pedals and a bunch of gear left from my club days in the early eighties.
The lyrics are your basic Buddhist business - nothing especially new or exciting.
The guitar / leslie effect you mention is the bass played with the EBow while wiggling it about to create the tremolo.
Do check out those bands - they all have you tube postings.

Very cool
I listened to the song twice before commenting.

I was just wrapping up an industrial song and I was very intrigued to hear your approach to this genre. This is really cool. I really like the spacey vibe to the vocals and the effects and production is really quite good.

Much enjoyed.

Not sure this was Industrial - but the persistent beat and edgy noise seemed to fit the description. Might be a little mellow to really make the grade.

I came
back for another listen. I think that it fits the genre just fine. The beat is driving and persistent (especially that chemical sounding bass drum) and the vocals are effected nicely. Yes, "edgy" is a great description.

Awesome song by the way.

Really dig the experimentation in this it creates a unique mood, its raw and charges on into infinity!
Enjoying all the sounds as they swirl about the vocals!

some of it is just distortion and some comes from open mic recording and a noisy amp. Thanks for stopping by.

I like that ebow "synth" sound, and the experimentation in general is a great way to develop a signature sound. Creative sonic stew.

I've been trying to do things that could be done live and keeping the tech lo. Also thinking about how Joy Division sounded and the way bands got their sounds at that time.

Well done Mr. Jones!
Love that driving, industrial background. I am also surprised at how good those fairly clean lead lines sound over everything else you've got going. An inspired choice to these old ears! That "synth sounding lead" is also cool...

Be well friend!

Good ears - part of this experiment was in
contrasting textures. I decided to avoid a fuzzed out lead guitar and played the clean lines and chord hits instead and then used the EBow bass for the synth. A new approach to an eighties vibe. Thanks for stopping by.

jumping onto the keyboard for drums is great, more control of what you want to put down. the ebow on the bass...cool, i keep think of doing that just haven't got around to it.

The EBow bass was a great discovery - but a bit tricky
the string guides don't line up. The keyed drums were a bith - my time sucks and this song has no hard set tempo so I couldn't loop anything.

Too kind as usual Karen
I'm a mucker - and sometimes the muck is better than others. It's more about painting than music - though I'm no better a painter than I am a musician. In fact - I don't paint at all. I guess what I do is think - and then try stuff. Glad you enjoyed this. I was concerned that the vocals were a bit hard on the ears.

I wouldn't call the Krautrock per se
just the results of what I was listening too. Definitely check out the bands I mentioned for the real deal. The common thread I guess could be the straight beat - but Krautrock created a beat called Motorik that has an amazing feel in the right hands - especially as played by Neu.

Wow, love the track it is terrific! At times the vocals were a bit hot, making some words distorted. {But that's not a bad thing} I know that was due to the effect you used. I liked it very much!

The vocals were recorded with quite a bit of distortion
it wasn't a volume issue - just a choice. But you are right about levels - I think they could be buried a bit more.

not so saur-
kraut rock. What genre don't ypu do?

The range of tones that you pull off in that basement of yours is truly incredible. This is particularly tinny, in a good way. Very metallic and clanky and cranky. Like the hand-played rums with the slightly off beat cadence, sounds truly live. Nice!

Cabbage Rock?
Am I getting this right ...Kraut as in Cabbage ...Post Apocalyptic Cauliflower Thrash VeggieMetal or as in,er Kraut...?

Anyway it is different as expected of your good self and I found myself strangely drawn to the arcane madness that makes it such a compelling piece.

When will your composition for Aubergine,Electric thermometer and two Orbital Sanders be complete ?

can hear the krautrock influence but also touches of Bowie circa Low...well the e-bow guitar sound.

Apart from that a really cool track.

Good ears - I just read the 33 1//3 book on
the making of Low - which is what sent me off into krautrock land. Good suggestion for the drums too - but I had to work so hard to keep a beat - that anything more was beyond me at the time.

I love all the sounds you chose. I am not overly familiar with "indutrial" but this is more like the styles of the Doors and Jon Hooker in the drone. I love the over all effect and think that you should explore this deeper. It really seems to come out great for you.

Bud
Among all the cool things in this song that everybody mentioned I dig the Belew-ish rhythm guitar.
Talking about painting, while listening (before reading the comments) some monochrome, cloudy and ominous images came to my mind. But the guitar was putting some tonality to the overall monochromatominy.
Going to say the artwork matches perfectly and adds another touch to the music, kinda optimism with that eye looking up. It's like if the eye was the guitar in some way.
Mindgames...

Not-so-Sour Krautrock
Bud, this is one of the strongest and most unique intros I've heard in rock in quite a while, and I'm glad you sustain that dark groove throughout. Almost has a Doors spookiness going here -- not the sound, which but the mood. (Should I delete that reference? I had a feeling someone would beat me to it, and Gaylen did.) This is just unearthly, nicely done.

Speaking of Kratrock, this also could work in a movie like Werner Herzog's amazing classic film, Wings of Desire, in which Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds did a cameo as an also-moody underground bar band.
