Lyrics
There was a time when I had no voice to say what I wanted to say
But with this black guitar and these words, I can finally
Lay down my thoughts, what's on my mind, I hope your kind
When you hear it now I hope all rings true, the simple truth is that I like you

I want you to be the girl who stands by me
For now and forever more, yeah, here we go now
Let's take this leap and forever I will keep
This promise I'll always adore you, here we go now

So now that it's out there, I'm hoping I can look you in your blue eyes
And when you look back you'll see me, and we can be friends starting tonight
And when I see you in the commons everyday after school
We can just be cool and talk and I'll walk you home and I'll hold your hand too

I want you to be the girl who stands by me
For now and forever more, yeah, here we go now
Let's take this leap and forever I will keep
This promise I'll always adore you, here we go now

(Solo)

I want you to be the girl who stands by me
For now and forever more, yeah, here we go now
Let's take this leap and forever I will keep
This promise I'll always adore you, here we go now

I want you to be the girl who stands by me
For now and forever more, yeah, here we go now
Let's take this leap and forever I will keep
This promise I'll always adore you, here we go now

i like it
i like the punky chord progression and the nerdy vocals although i think at times the vocals could use a little more 'guts', especially in the chorus they sound a little too twee. Or maybe just bring the backups up a bit in the chorus. I like the verse a lot. Cool little tune i'll have to go out and see what else you've done on MJ.

Your vocals
have an interesting mix of Blink 182, Wierd Al and Smashing Pumpkins. I think you are a bit far from the mic on this vocal. Sounds a bit distant. Very catchy song, cool drum job and good tones all around. Great first post.

style
nice sassiness here - as in north america's 80's "the Knack" or joe jackson when he sang "breaking us in two" -
your 'the simple truth' fills this genre right to the brim - relentless expressive vocals right up until the end - in my opinion

How does everyone know

not even remotely my taste in my music styles but I might change my mind after hearing this! Very well done, really catchy upbeat tune, I think the production is great and I like the way you mic'ed your vocals, I think it works well with this style. Great first post! Welcome!

Fun!
Cool tune with catchy lyrics. Has a quality that reminds me of the songs by Billy Reid, aka Bonka (who is a member here). Enjoyed it--thanks.:)
