Lyrics
if you had an indian name
what would it be
if you needed a hostage
you can always have me
and when the world is flat
and we come to the edge
would you read me your words
would you tell me our pledge

oh the sounds of the morning
they set desire straight
they climb up that hill ya know
they seal my fate
and the trust that comes
and it stays with me
it drinks my blood
and it pays my fee
and it hold my hand
when the days get hot
it takes me in
unties my knot

ill sweep the floors
ill keep us clean
and kiss the thoughts my dear
of what ive seen
ill stake that clam
ill climb that tree
ill take care of us
you and me
you and me

if you had an indian name
what would it be
if you needed a hostage
you can always have me

l sweep the floors
ill keep us clean
and kiss the thoughts my dear
of what ive seen
ill stake that claim
ill climb that tree
ill take care of us
you and me
you and me

Love your lyric and the instrumentation on this. Love how it starts off so mellow, but really kicks in as it goes. Thanks for sharing it!!

Sweet
Powhatan? Moctezuma? Atahualpa? Geronimo?

This has to be one of the stranger opening lines I have heard since .. ah .. since .. ah .. since Dylan wrote "When you're lost in the rain in Juarez and it's Eastertime, too" : )

I'm not sure how coming up with an Indian avatar fits into the scope of the song, but if it was the spark that led to the flaring of this song, then that's an acceptable situation.

Because this song burns with offbeat (as opposed to mainstream) creativity. This is what you get when the world goes flat and we come to the edge (great line!).

Your recent songs really strive to set up a sonic environment for you to express your individuality. Some of the quirky moments are more effective than others. That's gonna happen as you keep pushing yourself to be innovative. "A Little Tear" has a catchier melody. "Iowa" comes off a bit disjointed (to my ear). But when these idiosyncratic elements effectively blend together - as happens in this song - it creates a four-alarm fire.

I especially like the extended guitar solo that never quite settles on the note it seems to be searching for, yet keeps moving forward in the quest. And I love the big hanging pause when the choral voices add their hum to the mix.

I find your musical experiments always of interest .. and when they come together to create a complex carbohydrate composition like this one .. it gives me a sugar high.
