Texas Jam (sloparts band mix)

Description
I nearly feel like MacJam's Land must be going .... " oh...boy... more Texas.....stuff ......"
If so I sincerely apologize. Events like this are "heady" things but I will promise you we are coming back to earth now.
.... well I lied. I am still caught in the "moment" several times a day ... and it feels good.

This tune doesn't really belong "here". This tune belongs to a lot of lovely artist who had a ball one sunny day in Texas. There is a video of this up now and it makes me smile still and I have figured out why it does. There are enough smiles in those pictures to keep you grinning a very long time.

About this version:
Ed gave all of us homework and being the studious macjammers we are ... well the dog ate our homework.
"Them Pickers, Grinners, Losers and Winner's" is posted on Ed's site (sloparts) and was a song he wrote specifically for July Jam. I think I am glad the dog ate our collective homework from the standpoint that the band is now, a group of folks who feel darn comfortable with each other.

Players on the song
awigze - Andy Wigzell on Mandolin
PickQuickRecords - Chris Cihon on Lead Guitar
sloparts - Ed Wemmerus on Vocals, Bass, Drums, Lead & Rhythm Guitars
davisamerica - Jack Hemby on Harmonica
slopartner - Jeannie Stebner for Photos and artwork
Mrs. davisamerica - Kim Hemby for moral support
Mark Holbrook on Piano
Maure - Maureen Wigzell on Finger Pickin' Guitar
Outtaorbit - Pat Robinson on The Conch Shell
sheilad - Sheila Dawson on Vocals
davisamerica-2 Terry Pearson on Rhythm Guitar and Vocals Harmony
Vic Diesel - Victor Eijkhout on on Piano
gail60 _inspiration and keys

Other artist at the July Jam were apockafunk, gail60, and Ryan Holbrook and their performances can be found on the Texas_Jam_July_2010 page.

Ed herded the kitties on this mix and found them all chairs. Nice job sloparts.

Ok.... Sheila is telling me to hurry my two little fingers up and get this done.
Just a thought..... we MJ loonies are all over the world. Get together when ever you can, it is magic.

oh and btw the link below is for a very cool vid sloparts put together.

Them Pickers, Grinners, Losers, Winners - (Ain't nothing' hotter than Texas)
By Ed Wemmerus
Copyright ⓒ May 17, 2010 Edward C. Wemmerus Sr.

Verse

Ain't nothing' hotter than Texas, in the middle of July
Spec-ly down round Greenville, when the music starts to fly
Them pickers, grinners, losers, winners, pull out a guitar
And lay down a little boogie leanin' up against a car
That music soothes the soul, of folks around the block
Spec-ly when those Country boys really start to Rock

Pickin'Verse

Chorus

Well MacJams is the reason, all of us are friends
Sittin' here on Hemby's porch, the music never ends
Those pickers, grinners, losers, winners, haven't got a care
Just pass that guitar down the line, and kick back in a chair

Verse 2

Ain't nothing' hotter than Texas, when MacJams comes to town
Them pickers, grinners, losers, winners, can really lay it down
From Funky Blues to Country Swing, and all that's in between
Sometimes they'll even start to play, the Queen of New Orleans
The main thing that they do, is have a lot of fun
Pickin', grinnin', loosen', winnin', in that Texas sun

Pickin'Verse

Bridge

Pat, & Jack, & Mark & Andy, Sheila, Joe, Damien, Randy,
Jean & Ed, and who knows who, maybe Harold Luper too
Wouldn't it great, if maybe John could come on down
We'd blow the lid right off this, little Texas town

Chorus

Well MacJams is the reason, all of us are friends
Sittin' here on Hemby's porch, the music never ends
Those pickers, grinners, losers, winners, haven't got a care
Just pass that guitar down the line, and kick back in a chair

Tag lines

Those pickers, grinners, losers, winners, haven't got a care.
Just pass that guitar down the line, and kick back in a chair

Love the artwork, Jack
The song ain't half bad either. lol

Thanks to all the great players for their fine contributions to the song. I especially want to thank Andy, Chris, Jack, Mark and Victor for their valuable input and suggestions while I was mixing this Texas Jam version. Couldn't have done it without your ears picking up details that these old ears of mine so often miss.

Love it, but then I would say that, wouldn't I ?

Be well and be cool my friends,

Ed

HEY!!!
what happened to my lead vocals????? Oh right, the great State of Texas had a ban put on them. I will leave the singing and the playing and everything else to this group of amazing people and musicians.

Jack is right.... if you EVER have the chance to come together go for it... you will be amazed at the fun you will find and make wonderful friends for life along the way

It was our resident Pixie
Sheila. Of course I had to give her a crash course in Rebel speak. She did a purdy fair job on that too, - - - - - for a Yankee !

richard13 said 2645 days ago (July 23rd, 2010)
Pixie she may be
but Yankee she's not (unless she got adopted recently ;-) She's from a little farther north.
Whatever, you all (or is that y'all ?) sound great and the fun shines through.

Well Richard
According to conventional Rebel thought, anyone north of the Mason-Dixon line is a Yankee, even the Eskimos qualify for that status. Now I do realize that Sheila is Canadian, but she is, after all, north of the Mason-Dixon line, don't ya know. ;-) lol

Honorary Texans
Well, some folk in these parts... well, not these urban parts, but areas that are more akin to Australia and not so much the U.S. have a tendency to think that anyone North of the Red River is a yankee. So to protect our possible future residents- that is; Sheila and Chris will be made Honorary Texans. And OH YES! There is ceremony for this. It involves standing on a chair, so it helps to be sobre... ya'll.

LOL! Cheers and chug-a-lug!
The genesis of this tune is so true to the collab spirit that I'm happy to revisit it and your good times, and smile at this giant full-blown collab version. After seeing the pix, slides and hearing the good times on "tape," feels like I was there. Good for you.. er, y'all! And how fine it is to see that SloPartner even gets a share of the cred. But hey... what's with that crazy ending?! LOL and cheers, :)

You guys sound like you had a wonderful time with this one! Love the lyrics, love the playing. And great to hear a Yee-haw and a "Y'awl come back now" at the end! Was that meant to be a longhorn that takes it out? :-) Much enjoyed - glad I finally caught up with it.
