Twists and Turns (An Ambiental Mix)

 Genre: Experimental

Get Flash to see this player.

This is a mixture of Experimental (in the instruments used) and Ambient but moving more towards experimental, hence the genre chosen.

I have tried to keep momentum moving along with parts of the mix and added contrasts with the sparklies or top sounds. There are two sections where the dynamics increase in volume and then settle back down and the ending is as I planned.

There is another mix, of just under 21 minutes, that has similar elements and makeup to this one. I may post a snippit of this longer mix, for contrast to this piece, at some time in the near future.

As always your thoughts are important to me, whatever their texture.

...it was long, but as always, well worth the listening--you do very unique work--thanks for posting!

Hi Michael......
Unique, in a nutshell....Ha ha. The lengths of my pieces is almost arbitrary, as I stop when I think I've done.....if you know what I mean.

I'm sure more of this sort of stuff will be uploaded and anywhere from two to twenty minutes.

Take care.

An eight-minute maze of sonic twists and turns,
but I dropped some bread crumbs behind me as listened so that I wouldn't get lost. This is nice Paul, and I too have used the ambiental contraction. Cheers.

Hi Richard.....
Ah, the old breadcrumb trick. The other one is the piece of string going back to where you started.

It's good that you have discovered Ambiental. It can encompass almost anything!! Ha ha.

Take care.

My thoughts on your work is as always that you make so cool spacey dream away tunes, who let me feel I'm floating around timeless into space. Be well.

Kenta my friend.....
I hope you and your good lady are well. I seem to be floating around timelessly all the time, so I know where you're coming from. Just don't get lost out there!!

Take care.

It's always a treat listening to your music because it's different. This was a little long, I had to pause it to go get coffee. Well worth it though, it was a great listen!

Hi Dani....
Yeah...Some of my mixes are a tad too long. I've many on my hard disk that are in the 15-20 minute region. You'd need a pot of coffee or access to the Stop button if you heard any of those!! They send me to sleep sometimes. Most times....

Take care.

Very appealing
combination of sounds and textures. I could listen for hours. One of the best I've heard from you in a while.

Hi Charlie......
Thanks for your kind words.

Yes. I've been focused on things non-musical so my attention has been elsewhere and my heart was not in making music.

The focus is more on music once again so we'll see what I come up with next.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Take care.

Twists and turns
Not the sort of music I would usually listen to, but I am broadening my horizons with the help of this site. Thanks for this, it was interesting to hear how an ambience is created with slow chord changes, repetitions, and a slow journey through to crescendo and back, ebbing and flowing like the tide.

Besides, I like LW too, but only his later stuff :)

LW is, as it says in my profile, a hero. I have followed his work through his monumental development of the themes. Mind blowing stuff.

Thanks for stopping by to listen.

Take care.

Genre Info
Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
