Description
A while back my friend, Bob Rodgers, sent me some music he'd been working on, and asked me if I'd like to write some lyrics for it and sing them. The music was very inviting, so I asked him for a story line. I wanted to know what he was thinking about when he wrote this music. He had this situation in mind, one that many of us are probably familiar with in one way or another; letting such a sweet life pass us by, thinking there's something better. This is the sentiment behind the song, but there are many aspects. I think the song really shines in the dance of the "question marks." Many thanks to you, Bob, for this opportunity. I hope everybody enjoys this. It was a joy for us to make it. Peace. Terry

Bob did all the mixing on this, and everything else. I sang.
Another collab we did is Blood Red Sky w/davisamerica http://www.macjams.com/song/43983

Lyrics
Angelika Lives Two Houses Down From Me

Angelika lives two houses down from me
She’s always home. I never see her leave
From her chair she gazes out the window
And looks for things you only find in dreams

And it makes me feel bad
To see my lady so sad
Will she ever look at me again and return to what we had
I waited for years
To have my lady this near
But she came back without her song. She never found her balladeer

I always knew I’d found what I was looking for
But Angie felt there must be something more
She crossed the mountains and sailed the oceans
But she’s never been this far away before

I don’t know what to do
I’d tell her if I knew
I would answer all her questions if I only had a clue
But she stays inside
Put a hold on both our lives
And question marks still dance before her eyes

Angelika lives two houses down from me
But she’s far away, too far for me to see
She disappeared into infinity

Absolutely fantastic, both of you
Bob, you music is so subtly done and so full it's just awesome. And Terry, the story you told in the lyrics, and you delivery is perfect for the mood of the music, which cries out in a mournful way.

It's hard to lose someone you love to a dream that never comes to fruition, and this song conveys the misery of being there.

Wonderful work, both of you,

Ed

Thanks from me too Ed
I composed the music for this song with Terry in mind, I so wanted him to sing vocals on this and I was delighted when the music he heard inspired him to write something for it. The story he came up with in the lyrics is fantastic and I was blown away when I added his vocals to the music, I got goose bumps listening to it!
What a great vocal he sings and I agree, the delivery is perfect.
Thanks for your kind words.

First, I have to comment on your voice. How soothing, it gently glides over the notes so beautifully. I listen to Metal 90% of the time, so what a lovely switch. The track is so awesome, love the guitar playing. Everything is just solid, great stuff!

You got me...
from the opening seconds of the instrumental track. I am a sucker for these gentle ballads (as you know), and the music and arrangement along with such solid vocals just strike me as being full of security and purpose and, of course, a certain warmth that is palpable in the final mixed product. I really like this song an awful lot. The length guitar bridge takes the number in a little more uplifted direction, but does not distract from the intent and general style of the composition. ... Ah, and leaving the chord hanging at the end is a wonderful touch. Just superb. What a great collaboration. Thanks.

Great ballad. I love the guitar backing, it sits just right behind the verses, and then gets harder and lifts up as a great swell to the verses. The guitar break is haunting. The overall emotions are sadness and beauty. Cool ending.

I think Bob's arrangement on this is beautifully balanced. The placement of the instrumental, and the brief return to the story to give it closure were very effective I think. And yeah, there's some great guitar work in this. Thanks for the listen.
