Description
A song written as part of an album inspired by JRR Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings'. This particular piece is the final number, and evokes the atmosphere of 'The Grey Havens', though placing the listener in a more personal relationship to the action, as if Elrond was addressing any who might hearken to him, and take ship for another shore.

Lyrics
Elrond's Call

Meet me when, the leaves turn gold and fall,
Come, my friend, and heed my yearning call,
Together we’ll ride, out to the Tower Hills,
Slip unseen, through the night so soft and still

Oh, bright is the moon on the rolling sea,
A white ship waits by a lonely quay,

All your journeyings are done, save one,
All your days of fear and pain, are run,
Your soul is old, and yearning to be free,
Bright with love, ready to go with me.

Oh, bright is the moon on the rolling sea,
A White ship waits by a lonely quay,
Oh, say of me, I didn’t go alone,
Say of me, that I went home!

Still for a while, I linger yet ashore,
Though my soul, is dying to the world,
Crying gently for the farthest shore,
Soon this earth, will see my face no more.

Oh, bright is the moon on the rolling sea,
A White Ship waits by a lonely quay,
Oh, say of me, I didn’t go alone,
Say of me, that I went home!

This is good.
It's been my experience that most tolkien inspired music is either quite good or truly awful. This falls into the former. Very nice, I'm impressed.

Thank you!
Thank you for listening; glad you liked it. Listened to 'The Carrion Waltz' and am pleasantly surprised that you did find something impressive in it! Yours sounds in a different league to my sketchy and spare piece.

Don't
Sell yourself short. This is a strong composition. It is spare, as you mentioned, but none the less intimate for it. I could think of a few arrangements that would compliment nicely.

gorgeous work
Love this soft ballad, very compelling composition, nicely played and sung. The chorus hearkens to an old ELO song that I cannot place just now, but I really like the chords. I look forward to more of your work.

Engaging
Nicely sung and played with a mourneful feel that sounds right as the conclusion to something. Spare as others have said and that chorus is very catchy. Good stuff

Thanks for listening. Glad You enjoyed it. Most of my songs are pretty spare, just guitar, vocals, harmony sometimes and occasional recorder. Now the world of Mac and Garageband has arrived, the horizon has widened somewhat! Daunting, but exciting!

Thank you!
Very impressed that MacJams members don't just see technical shortcomings in this song but find something worthwhile, and more than that take the time to comment and say so!

Very encouraging for a reclusive dabbler like me!

less is sometimes more
Your lyrics are full of meaning and the arrangement has good structure. If you don't have already get yourself a rhyming dictionary and a book on famous quotes but if you write poetry already you may not need it.

Well done sir

Appreciate your comments!
Having heard your remarkable debut piece, I'll take your word for it on the structure! Got a rhyming dictionary years ago but found that i never used it for some reason, relying on the wheezing cerebellum for matches when writing poetry instead. Think i gave it to a charity shop. They wouldn't take me, incidentally, said there was no market!

This caresses,
and what more would one want of a sweet ballad? This would be fitting at the funeral of a friend. Very nice, Thanks.

Nice send off
A funeral without sadness, and onward voyage, and in the future, we trust, many meetings!

i did think about leaving instructions about having this song played at my final do, though no more than a thought!

Cheers
