Lyrics
i had iced coffee in the morning
moved my finger along a map
felt the future rising through me
i held the world in my lap

i thought about texas this morning
kanas is now on my mind
followed you through the flood plains
the swelling rivers a sign

you are driving back from the desert
i take a bath in the dark
you see the road disappear behind you
and i call you from a bench in the park

all the rivers that run between us
keep us nourished when we are so far apart
i love how we think about water
so fertile right from the start.

i took my shoes off in manhattan
about a year or so ago
bounced my words off a satellite
everything i wanted you to know
wanted you to know
everything
i wanted you to know everything

i thought about texas this morning
kanas is now on my mind
followed you through the flood plains
the swollen rivers a sign

the sun dances on the horizon
the moon not far behind
i would drive all night just to see you
to penetrate your sensuous mind

the air is so pungent
the light so warm and deep
i walk the levee to remind you
the river is ours to keep

little tear.. ive been thinking
im ready and im walkin your way
meet me in the middle
ill play the fiddle
make a nest in the grass and we can play

little tear.. ive been thinking
im ready and im walkin your way
meet me in the middle
ill play the fiddle
make a nest in the grass and we can play

the first verse made me think of
leonard cohen and wilco--both in a good way! (I know, comparisons are bound to be off, but I find your tunes to be always evocative...)

Done listening: another great song! Love the water imagery throughout, and some of the couplets are almost spookily visual--for instance:

you are driving back from the desert
i take a bath in the dark
you see the road disappear behind you
and i call you from a bench in the park

As always....
I am in awe of the way your imagination takes everyday words and 'feels like Home" simple, relaxed, melodies, and imbues them with a sensuality, and simple sincerity ~ like a good and strong heart worn on your sleeve for your love. Very inspiring. : ) C. J.

Tim
this is what I have come to expect from your work. I am so very very grateful you have chosen to give us these tunes.
The opening beat on this might be a bit much for some people (me) but the kit settles in nicely afterwards.
Peace

Like the intro guitars. The build ups and teardowns of the arrangement are effective. The lyrics convey the idea of distance effectively.

Cool song
Well done lyrics on this. Understated laid back vibe is working and give this a "road song" type vibe. Very cool. Vocals get buried from time to time in this but great job on this!

nice one Tim
great lyrics... tells a story but still keeps a bit of poetic license to twist some lines. cool.

tune is solid and the guitars has a neil young style. there is also a bit of "The Band" style that seems to me to compliment the overall feel here.

I like...
...the addition of the rhythm electric guitar (Les Paul?) around 1:20, a lot. Solidifies the bed nicely.

Fine poetry...and the music is like a group of friends sitting down with our instruments and relating to it all.
