Tell me what's on your mind w/Gaylen Sharp

Description
My second collab with Gaylen Sharp. I'm amazed at how quickly he works. I sent him this tune I wrote a few years ago to see if he had any ideas for vocals. He immediately jumped on it and sent this back to me. It sounds like he wrote it together, side by side.

Lyrics
when I lay in bed at night
I dream of the way we were
a promise without a fight
so many unsaid words
now when i look into your eyes
all i see is pain indured
oh the way i treated you
the problems I have stirred
its not all bad
we had some good times
you look sad
tell me whats on your mind

dont go now
dont scold me
dont walk out
just hold me

my hands seem well they seem so strong
and my eyes close before youre gone
my mind was made up for me
and my hearts your so you can adore me

youre packing your bags
and all I have is unkind words
youre the best Ive ever had
I know it sounds obserd
you wont listen
you wont hear me
where are you looking
when you look right through me

my hands seem well they seem so strong
and my eyes close before youre gone
my mind was made up for me
and my hearts your so you can adore me

I cant make up my mind
do I lead or fall behind
I should know the answer
when i look in your eyes

wipe that smile off your face
Its like youre a stranger
this is not the safest place
I think youre in danger

its not all bad
weve had some good times
you look sad
will you tell me whats on your mind

Awesome,
First off I love that intro. Sucks you right in. Brilliant stuff. Gaylens vocals are on fire in this too. That chorus seriously pumps.
Excellent song

Very cool!
Terrific backing Steve - love the synthy B3 part. Gaylen rips this apart - wouldn't mind 1 or 2 dB more on the vocals, but a pretty good mix considering the time-frame.
Good stuff!

Wild and wiggly
Steve's stuff is always very well constructed and incredibly well played, and always sounds "all over the place", except that it's deliberately so. Gaylen, this is a roller coaster, but you keep right up and lay those incredible vox down, and the result is really cool. And then the fade-out ending... not too bad here though. :-)

I'd...
...like it more if the drums were louder and more frenetic. but that said it does sound great now, the vocal and guitar performances have this palpable energy, this sense of excitement about them that really pushes the song. Good stuff.

Fab collab!
Very cool track. Love the difference between the main sections. Hip and driving. The interplay between synths and guitar is very nice, cool organ part too (altho the organ sound could've been a tad grittier). I'd make the drums a bit louder. The melodic lines does a great job finding the open spaces and bringing everything together.

I listened about 4 times. Dug it more each time. Great collab, you two. Man, I hope you do more together!

Has a 70's flavor. Well constructed song with very tight playing. Another strong outing for Gaylen lyrically and vocally. He must be feeding that muse he's got chained in the basement :)

splendidly vocalized
and the whole track rocks as hell. Very neatly structured. I think the song would win with a tad more bass on the forefront. Enjoyed.
