Lyrics
i had iced coffee in the morning
moved my finger along a map
felt the future rising through me
i held the world in my lap

i thought about texas this morning
kansas is now on my mind
followed you through the flood plains
the swelling rivers a sign

you are driving back from the desert
i take a bath in the dark
you see the road disappear behind you
and i call you from a bench in the park

all the rivers that run between us
keep us nourished when we are so far apart
i love how we think about water
so fertile right from the start.

i took my shoes off in manhattan
about a year or so ago
bounced my words off a satellite
everything i wanted you to know
wanted you to know
everything
i wanted you to know everything

i thought about texas in the morning
kansas is now on my mind
followed you through the flood plains
the swelling rivers a sign

the sun dances on the horizon
the moons not far behind
i would drive all night just to see you
to penetrate your sensuous mind

the air is so pungent
the light so warm and deep
i walk the levee to remind you
the river is ours to keep

little tear.. ive been thinking
im ready and im walkin your way
meet me in the middle
ill play the fiddle
make a nest in the grass and we can play

little tear.. ive been thinking
im ready and im walkin your way
meet me in the middle
ill play the fiddle
make a nest in the grass and we can play

Little Tear
I must say I can't remember any major issues with the first mix requiring fixing. But I tend to forgive mixing issues when I like the tune. And the fact is I really like this song. I love the arrangement (great guitars and organ). And the mix and production are excellent. Download!

my concerns
i thought the first mix was too bassy, the drums too loud, the mix of guitars, unbalanced and that my vocal needed to be followed and adjusted throughout the song. i also added back a rhythm guitar to carry the quieter parts. mybe just a bit of obsession and i do consistently post songs too quickly.

Classic
Much better mix. The little tweaks has separated everything, making it much cleaner. Nice work. The song sings now. Nice track.

Your imagery spans the distance.
I wish I could put such imagery to a love that spans the distance. So well done, Tim. Great counterpoint-guitars. The "bed" is warm/round, supports your lead guitars and voice, which is great. It's the kind of music that plays well for introspective "alone" times as well as that 2 a.m. realization that the party has peaked, but there's still a very contented feeling that you've done it right. Thanks for the DL... big fan. (I've been w/o a computer for about 3 weeks but I'll always catch-up with you.)

Like this a lot Tim
Listening on 'phones and finding it hard to hear the bass and kick drum (but I always mix them both so high!). This is a terrific song, and your playing and vocals really do it justice.
You have a good "way with a song".
