Lyrics
The newborn nymphs drop to the ground where they burrow and live for seventeen years. Slowly growing and no one knowing, underneath the construction, where they will appear. And then one summer, where it's approaching thirty degrees, suddenly, to avoid predation, they will emerge - many eaten by the birds and the bees. They're fucking all over the place in their millions and just for a day they'll fly into my face. Tsuka tsuka boshi.

Is this your 20th song @ MJ ?
Congratulations !

You've got a unique style, I like it a lot. I also like your approach for writing straightforward lyrics.

Nice work.

They are bout the
dumbest most clumsy insect in the world. LOUD as all get out too. This is cool. blues witha little more of a dance vibe to this one. nice job, enjoyed it! Congrats on your 20th song!

Cool song
Those insects are all over the US south. In Mississippi they can be almost deafening. But these come out every year. The 17 variant is I think further north.

Ok, the song is nicely done, but the music is generic, there's nothing Cicada-y in it. I was a bit disappointed that you didn't make a connection between music and lyrics.

I thought sex in the suburbs
"Semi", "explicit" - what else was I to think?

We don't get them in England but at 11:30 every night strange creatures make howling noises outside my window. I swear they're trying to sing but I thought only sentient beings do that.

Another little quirky masterpiece to add to your oeuvre.

Nice work. Loved the lyrics and electropop setting

Cheers

Syncopation
Nice syncopation. There was an insect in Wisconsin called "the lake fly" that hatched once a year and lived for 3 days and covered all the house and windshields with black. The fish gorged. But, boy, they weren't nearly as big as that bug in your hand! If they could work together, they could pick you up and fly you away. Congrats on your 20th.

Funky Rap
I'm not an expert on musical genre, but this is a pretty cool number on the percussive, syncopation side with a rapper's feel for the delivery of the lyrics. I'm not sure if it fits the annoying cicada, but it does tend to drill itself into one's head. ... That bug you are holding: oh, my!!! I think your semi-x-rated lyric definitely describes this little beastie.

Happy 20th!
Nice one to kick off the next 20! I like how it picks up after the lyrics. Great keys and words, all around nice tune, enigmatic lyrics for those that might hear it and not know of the cicada reference.

Cool
Love the beat and the way your lyrics come out as a stream - it's refreshing and plays up the rhythms well.

Congrats on #20. Many more to come, I'll wager.

it's that time of the moth
That's a lovely round bass sound you've got going on and the tremelo guitar near the end works really well.
Short and sweet and educating. We only get moths that eat your bloody clothes here
cheers

cicada
We had these in Kentucky where I grew up too. What a f-ing wraket they had. This has a very spooky Cramps vibe to it. LOVE the vibrato guitar solo. Well done...

Great lyrical flow. Enhanced when reading the incongruous punctuation of your posted lyrics.

And it grooves like a mean smooth bastard.

In Australia I used to call the cicada in your hand a "Black Prince" (as distinct from the green and yellow ones we also get). Nice vibe to this song. Congratulations. Peter
