Description
This is a complete reworking of a song I originally wrote and recorded back in 2004.

The original was a very sparse, simple affair - all synth and vocals. The new version is much more expansive. A much deeper synth bed, actual guitar and bass tracks instead of synth and a much more fleshed out, but still fairly simple, percussion track. About the only thing that is the same as the original is the piano track, which, though recreated (since the original is long lost) is exactly the same, only with less reverb. In fact, the whole thing has a lot less reverb since, at the time I did the original, I sloshed the reverb on pretty heavy.

Aside from that, it's just you basic pop song. And, to answer your question: Yes, I was listening to The Cure's Disintegration ALOT when I wrote and recorded this...

Lyrics
Just A Song
©2004 Joseph Gurner

There’s nothing more than just a song for you
Dreaming again in the shade of your eyes it echos through the night
when I’m alone awake in the dark I strain to see your face
There’s nothing more than just a song for you

There’s nothing left but a word from you
I sit in the dark and draw strength from my tears as they slowly fade away
It seems so unfair as it tears from my heart all the pictures of you
There’s nothing left but a word from you

Solo

There’s nothing left but a feeling of you
Cry in the dark scream at the light hide away your pain
Rivers of tears have flowed through my eyes at the thought of losing you
There’s nothing left but a feeling of you

Solo

There’s nothing more than just a song for you
It sits in the dark and draws strength from my tears as it slowly fades away
Rivers of tears have flowed through my eyes at the thought of losing you
There’s nothing more than just a song for you

love that intro piano line over synths - nice progression. Dreamy atmospheric piece. My only nit is that the vocals seem buried under that rhythm guitar some. Maybe knockout some of the mids in the guitar to let the vocal breathe a little more.

Nice one Joseph
Love the lush sound you've got on this one. I seem to remember it being a little less well made than this version, which sounds great to my battered eardrums.

Cheers,
N

Like the guitar work.
Joe the real guitar gives it a real pro touch and fills out the soundbed well. I understand about the drums, they are always the hardest thing for me to do.

great mix
This has a nice polished feel to it - don't recall hearing the first version, but this is a great ambient sounding piece, as you indicate.
