Description
Thanks to John (KTB) for bringing some fusion creditability to this one for me. This is actually the first time I've ever asked someone to play on something of mine and what a difference it made.

Symbiosis. Had to look that one up and yes KTB's music is something I do live off of to survive sometimes.

Great collab. You guys did a knock down job here.

That fender amp sounds great!

Really aggresive jazz. I like it a lot!

I don't think they had aggressive Jazz in mind when they built the Fender Champ but it's been serving it's purpose for me lately.

Thanks John
Not only was your playing a great addition to this one but you filled a lot of holes that need to be filled. The keys rounded out the sound spectrum in the mix that it was lacking.

I loves me some loud jazz! Great rocking melody section. John sounds great on this. Nice Holdsworthish tone during the guitar solo.

Thanks Andrew
That opening note of the solo does have a Holdsworth tone to it but from there I think Mr. Holdsworth leaves me in the dust. But a guy can dream.

A fusion
The keys at the start have that Deep Purple feel. Loving the symbol hits on this, you are one of the best at drum programing. Crazy riffs.

Thanks Steve
I actually did piece the drum sections together from various patterns but most of the credit really goes to BFD but don't tell anyone I didn't painstakingly program each individual note.

amazing
how you two can be on the same page consistantly.

Johns keyboard work is very keith emerson, even the drums and bass have that ELP style.

of course great guitar work and composition Gary

I believe John makes everyone's work more cohesive whenever he adds his work to a piece. He under estimates his abilities.

Fusion
Cool changes - I do like the funk mashed up against the jazz ride. It serves the song well. Obviously, we are hearing from two chopmasters, so the soloing is primo. Being a drum-tone-snob, I would have liked a different snare sound, but that's a complete nit from a complete nitwit. Excellent tones elsewhere, and I like the balance in the mix where everything seems to have its own space.

I do find myself curious about the origination of the title ...

Thanks for posting in a somewhat under-represented genre. Cool chune!

Thanks Mike
If I had someone at MacJams that I wanted to analyze my drum tracks it would be you and your attention to detail. Not having a clue about drumming and how things should sound I try to listen to professional tracks and mimic as best I can. I go back and forth between this snare sound and the more sizzle snare if that's even a technical term. The title is because I live in Connecticut and KTB lives in Massachusetts, it's that east coast thing going on which anyone who lives here knows can be a grind.

Well, if you're going to pick someone....
...with whom to collaborate, John would be the guy... since you can say to him, "Can you kind of give it this kind of Celto-prog-modal feel in 11/8 with a totally contemporary sound on vintage synths?" and he'll email you a finished track in a half an hour that nails it....

John has been the quiet glue on an awful lot of great MacJams music...

I don't know much at all about fusion... this has a sort of King Crimson meets Return To Forever vibe to me, with faint flavors of Yes and an old Billy Cobham record one of my roommates used to play to death....

Continuing a fine tradition as regards guitar tone, as well....

Thanks Ed
I agree John is the go to guy for a lot of MacJammers. John actually thought this one was in 11/8 until I realized it was just my poor sense of timing that was throwing him off.

Nice collab
Nice collab. Good decision to bring in keys. Really dug the opening theme. The slow parts are nice, altho the drumming is a tad too random in my ears, put very cool playing. Howling moments. Thanks for sharing this.

at it again, eh?
the "free style" guitar solo about 3/4 thru is KILLER!! hehehe Z Holdsworth

nice recording here, KTB never fails to play something thematic and dynamic....the drum track improves as the song progresses, at first it feels a little stiff...but boy it builds up some nice steam...

nice one Z
