Let's All Stand Round The Firebarrell

Description
Online collaboration I produced back in 2004, featuring cameos of blues harp, acoustic guitar picking, slide guitar, and ragtime acoustic piano exchanges, all in the soulful cajun blues style. Uplifting depression era lyrics. If this don't get you tappin your toe, there's probably no pulse either... LOL Had a blast bringing this idea to life. Hard to believe I've never really met any of these folks except online.

Lyrics
Who all wants to be hungry?
Who all wants to be fed?
Give me the news Roy-Play me the blues boy
Was it something I said?

Now I know I'm a stranger
To this odd way of life
Give me some bread Bro -Give me some soup Moe
Maybe a place for my head

(Chorus)
Stand Around The old FireBarrel
Stand around it all night long
Stand Around the old FireBarrel
Standing close while warming your bones

Dance Dance Around The FireBarrel
Dance The Night Away
Dance Dance Around The FireBarrel
Dance 'till the Light of Day

Can you buy me a new car?
Anyone spare me some change?
I'm finding this hard man-oh so hard Sam
Of being poor and being the blame

I once owned a gold chain
Wore a watch on my arm
I'm getting so cold mate-oh so cold while
This Barrel here is keeping me warm

(Chorus)
Stand Around The old FireBarrel
Stand around it all night long
Stand Around the old FireBarrel
Standing close while warming your bones

Dance Dance Around The FireBarrel
Dance The Night Away
Dance Dance Around The FireBarrel

re:Backing vocals
Yeah that's me doing the backing vocals. My attempts at soulful vocals. One of my friends said I sound like a black girl on them. I took that as a complement even if it is gender bending... hehehe. I sure do miss singing....

Great tune and an excellent collab
Love the feel and the mix is outstanding. Those harmonies are to die for, but then all the playing on this is too. WOW, what a job Y'all did on this one.

Too Cool,

Ed

digging this
It has a great organic feel to it. The tone on the blues harp is really great, I liked the choice of licks on it. The slides on the draw-bends are real clean. I think, though, that a couple of your bends near the end were a little bit flat, but that might just be my ears playing tricks on me. It's quality playing. I also really liked the tone on some of the acoustic guitar cameos, really resonant. Great stuff!

Stayin' warm, for sure
Great collab. Very cool feel to this. Joy in the blues, for sure. Thanks for sharing it. And thanks for posting the lyrics. (With that really long intro, it gave me faith someone would start singing soon...) Nice.

This is really interesting
A saloon bar piano song with bluesy rock guitar in there. Excellently pulled off too. This song could be appropriate for our country with the direction we are headed. Enjoyed it!

nice jam
you put it all together so nice.
the only thing I would have changed is the bassline AND the bassdrum connection. a slightly different accentuation would bring more drive to it.
