Description
In late 2008, I moved to the US from Jordan. It was quite a difficult journey to get settled but one of the major positive changes that occurred in my life was when MJ and MJers had my back and helped me get back into music.

In one evening, sometime in late September of 2008, while I was away from MJ (after deleting my old "Birdman Wayne" profile), I recieved a phone call at around 12:00 AM from Scott Carmichael informing me that he started a forum at MJ to raise money for me to buy a new guitar and equipment to get back to music and recording. I was thrilled to say the least. I checked the forum afterwards and was amazed at the generosity of the MJers.

Soon, I thought that I should do something to give back to MJ and couldn't find anything better than pickin' up my guitar and writing a tribute to all MJers, in general, and to the forum guys and gals, especially.

Since most of what I write/compose is in a minor key, I decided to give an upbeat feel to this piece and try a major key this time. Sadly, I couldn't resist but to have a minor key switch in the middle. So it's mainly in the key of G but there's a minor switch to the key of Am. After combining the influence of Tommy Emmanuel's "Endless Road" and "I've Always Thought of You" (highly recommended), alongside my feelings about this place and its people, "With A Few Words" came to life.

On October 15, 2008, I received a Macintosh computer from sloparts (thanks go out to my brother for documenting the event/date!). That was my first time to have my own personal computer and it just changed everything. Having GarageBand changed the way I look at recording. So, this is the reason behind this post on this date... it's 10/15 and it's the Mac's 2nd anniversary at my house. Thank you, sloparts

Some of you might have heard "With A Few Words" before. I've recorded two earlier versions of it; one had the fake 'live performance' feel to it and the other was supposed be the 'studio version.' I was satisfied with neither of them so I ended up re-recording it again... but it's changed quite a bit. This is not the final mix, and I didn't spend much time on the mix to be honest, but I like how it turned out. As far as the title goes, I don't know how it came to me but I meant it as "With A Few Words (of THANKS)" to y'all!

I'm writing a forum post about this piece and about everything that MJ has done to me. I've been a member since late 2006 and during all that time, I've developed and gotten better in music and as a person.,. and it's all because of this place. You guys truly are my second family and I can't thank you enough for enriching me with such a great experience and knowledge... not just about music, but about life in general. Thank you!

Kind regards,
- Yeman

Beautifully played
Beautifully written. I listen to you Yeman, and I keep forgetting how young you are. This music is very mature, and I can see how you've grown and gotten better with each piece I've heard you do. Sure glad you're here with us now. This country draws the best from all over the world. And thanks for coming back to us here at MacJams. I'm looking forward to your next post. Peace. Terry.

I personally
don't think minor chords make anything down beat... In fact when I listen to your minor section it reminds me of a gallop across a grassy prairie making quick turns.

eh but what do I know! This is gorgeous Mr. Wayne! A wonderful finger style guitar piece. Funny thing is last night I dreamed I played and recorded a finger style guitar piece... (now isn't that silly!) I must have somehow known you posted this!

A Major accomplishment for a Minor key
There's absolutely nothing wrong with mixing major and minor, the darkness defines the boundaries of light and gives it shape.

Anyway, gorgeous piece of music, and a heartfelt sentiment from my "young brother". Your composition and playing skills are only overshadowed by your enormous heart. Thank you for writing the description above, as it shows everyone who you are.

I am so glad you and your family are here, we are very lucky to have you join us. Welcome home, again. And thank you so much for this piece of music, I look forward to future versions of it, and hopefully a collaboration with you someday :-)

ttfn,
Drakonis

Your
tone and your rhythm are superb.I don't know if you played this to a click 'cause it goes in and out of time a bit, but your feel is so good. Excellent!

Thanks!
Great to hear from you, Sir. I didn't play this to a click track. Matter of fact, I've never recorded to a metronome because whenever I play to a click track, I'm out of time, unless it's a drum track. I can hear what you mentioned about this goin' off time a bit but this was my best take after about 90 takes. LOL! I appreciate the comment and taking the time to listen! :)

This is nice Yeman ,The feel and the tempo according to what you sense in your melody and the fingers technique definitely lovely and fair ,I m glad you reached to the point that its good to change the key cos this is what your feelings drove you through and its excellent ..I still think you deserve a better guitar with sparkling tone but you made it justice ... well done !!

Excellent track Yeman
I love the way you let it flow smoothly and freely throughout the track. I can tell this was play to the rhythm of you heart and not some artificial click because of the emotion and spirit you brought to the guitar.

Thanks you for again bringing us your talents my young friend. It is good that you are back with us at MJ.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Better and Better
Yeman, at the pace you've been developing your talent during the past few years, I have a feeling YOU will be influencing Tommy Emmanuel within a few more years.

It's a delight to have witnessed your progress and I continue to look forward to seeing and hearing you blossom even more in the future.

Very nice work, my young friend. ;)

Yeman,
Very crisp playing and a wonderful recording. I can hear every nuance as though I am right in the room. Your inspiring story confirms to me what we all strive to be at MJ. We are not perfect people, but our hearts are in the right place. Then there are those who take the lead and put feet to their faith (so to speak) and show their love in action. Very moving (both the music and the story)!

exquisite
You do some fine picking here. Good stuff, and very well played.

Is this recorded with a pickup or with a microphone? If a mic, then move it away a little: you're getting too much finger noise and boominess that sounds a bit unnatural.

Oh, welcome back!

Excellent playing. So many other nice high lights in addition to the change to minor. I like the use of the harmonics at the end that bring it to close.
