Description
This is a live recording of my band Dragonas.
I overdubbed the acoustic guitar and mixed it.
We are continuing to explore mixing Folk, traditional, ethnic music with rock arrangements to find our sound.
enjoy!

Cool!
Really great stuff with those fiddles. (Ever heard of the group Frigg?) This has lots of energy. I'm sure you guys put on a great show.

great call on the acoustic!
really glued it all together, this is a really very impressive artistic creative mixture of styles and instruments, very ecclectic, ethnically diverse, I would very seriously consider making this into an epic piece which it almost already is! One of the most interesting pieces of music I've heard in a while anywhere!

Thank You
Thank you for the kind words.
Wow, that means a lot!
Our band is on a musical journey to fuse all of our interests into one big sound.
Hopefully this is a step in the right direction.
Thanks JD. (by the way, my initials are JD too) ;-)

Reminds me of a rock'd up version of Wait's The Black Rider.. there's a woodsy folk atmosphere to this that the guitar just turns vicious, really liking the sound

Woodsy folk atmosphere
I'm convinced that both of those fiddlin' girls in the band are actually Wood Elves. LOL
I have not heard much Tom Waits, but I'll definitely check it out, Thanks.

I saw the Chieftains in concert a while back, this reminds me of them, but this is darker and more dramatic. Nice piece, great musicianship.

Facinating
Such an interesting mix of eclectic styles I wasn't sure where this was going to go next. It really has the feel of a (mostly) live recording. Would have loved to have sat on the sidelines and watched this being performed. Great stuff. Mark

Sounds like
the sort of band I'd go out to see! The acoustic definitely adds to the overall sound. Is this recorded with a Zoom-type device or from the desk? I ask because the drums seem oddly recorded, with lots of volume on the cymbals and the deeper drums missing out a little. Recording drums can be really difficult in a studio - doubly so live. We use Roland v-drums live and in the studio these days to get the best sound we can when recording (in fact, compared to our drummer's regular kit, the sound is just better all round in any situation).
I've always loved the combination of folksy fiddles and electric instruments - a huge fan of Fairport Convention around their "Nine" album - you pull this off really well, and I'm sure thiis must go down a treat live.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Fairport!
Jiguma,
I love Fairport Convention, thanks for the comparison!
This is a live recording, so the drums were really loud and there was audio bleed in everything else.
Not much I could do in the way of mixing, but it's a great capture of our live sound.
Nick, our drummer was using brand new Zildian cymbals that night, so they are super bright and loud.
Definitely have to check out those V-Drums soon!
Cheers,
John
