Lyrics
King Of Nothing

i can't write any words
i don't read any books
nothing is clear to me
i am a foolish king

i wear invisible clothes
all the laughs where i go
i am the king of nothing
and it shows

i am counting all my gold
the chocolate is very old
the castle has no stones
the jester stole the throne

i wear invisible clothes
all the laughs where i go
i am the king of nothing
and it shows

i crushed my crown of foil
the queen has hit the road
i don't look very royal
and nothing is all i own

i wear invisible clothes
all the laughs where i go
i am the king of nothing
and it shows

The bridge
and lead part is way too cool in this song.
Then the way it kicks back ito the verse is really well done.

Nice one Vic.

both of the lead guitars were done on the epi semi hollow body electric. i used it for the clean and distorted leads, it really is versatile for different sounds. and surprisingly heavy

That low end on the intro just kind of grabs you, and the guitar tone blends in perfectly. Vocs are sounding good & production is awesome. You just keep getting better.

Wobbly piano
Is something if were honest we all want to put in our tunes. I fear most of us don't have the skills to pull it off like you did here.
Love the uplifting solo.
Excellent stuff again

Well hidden
I'm not sure which is the piano. Is it the thing that almost sounds like a guitar? Around 3:23 it definitely sounds like a piano, but most of the time in the mix it's hard to recognize. No matter, it's a cool song and the sounds, however derived, are creative.

the piano is pretty well effected. it actually goes through the verses and the end part, playing the arppegiated lines. it has more of a detuned effect within the mix. you may of heard a wobbly guitar at the 3:23 mark, there are a few of those as well

Creepy-cool Vic!
I love the way you effected your vox in places ("Nothing is clear to me..."), and this really KICKS when the power chords come in.

Intriguing lyrics. Wonderful soloing.

the effected voice is just increasing the reverb on that track through automation. i spent a week trying to come up with some lyrics, just wasn't getting anywhere, i'm not sure how the line king of nothing came to me, but once i had that, the lyrics went down very fast

"King of nothing"
---it's what I call a "seed-phrase." Almost all my lyrics begin with a phrase like this that seems to come out nowhere. I've learned to recognize them and use them as a foundation.

How cool are our Muses anyway? LOL

of your that I've heard thus far. The guitar tone reminded me of Hendrix mixed with a prog band like Spock's Beard. The vocals were compelling and powerful. The lyrics flew due to the impacted power of the repetition you used. I really, really liked this, brilliant job.

this is seriously kick ass, sorry i'm so late to the party. the piano bits add some really cool ethereal edges to your 13th floor elevators style rocking. your guitars are sounding really full too. are you using your new amp on this one? everything just sounds so huge (vox too). you're probably just getting better and better at mixing; sounds incredible.

Nothing much to add
Another Vic Holman gem!

Lots to absorb in this song. But beyond the complex interplay of the music and the articulation of voice, what especially appeals to me is the concept. It represents one of those lyrical moments when lightning strikes - and blamm - a song explodes into existence.

Don't you just love those moments, when after a period of struggle and frustration, suddenly the right idea manifests itself, and the way becomes clear?

Love that chorus of I'm invisible/I have nothing/and it shows. While the first-person story is about a specific king, its implications are cast so wide that most of us - well, certainly I - can relate to it. That's good writing.
