My cousin Vignette
Nice work here, love the theme and galloping rhythm. The timing could be tightened a bit (french horns seem slow on the uptake :-) Grand feeling conveyed.

You got a fine slice!
This really caught my attention and made me sit upright so I think you achieved just what a promotional cue should do--however, I think, as Eduard mentioned, the timing could be a bit more tightly syncopated with the parts..this sounds great on it's own however, but I think that might be the key to truly making this electrifying and exciting. Thanks again and good luck to you Charles! Michael

Thanks Michael.
I'm happy you liked it and I understand what you and Eduard are saying. I generally don't like to quantize much feeling it often robs some life out of a performance but perhaps the response time of some of these instruments lag a bit and it could use some tightening.
I'll see what I can do to do that.
Cheers,
Charlie

Nice gig Charlie
Are the kettle drums suggestive of "booming drives" by people like the guy in your photo?

Expansive
and a great choice of instrumentation, more traditional than modern, giving the feeling that an important, grand and significant event
is about to happen.

Makes me think of a sunny day and the golfers walking onto the golf course with focus and anticipation. Well done.

When it comes to timing, I agree with you that sometimes loose timing enhances the organic feel of a track. Personally I would tighten up only the accompanying instruments (staccato strings, flute etc.) - the solo instruments can be off a little.

is often said - it's in the details and I will try that. Thanks for checking this out and for the kind words my friend.

Enjoyed...
From the opening notes to the last, I enjoyed this little 60 second number a great deal. It has a majestic quality that, to me, recalls the high western movies of the late 50s and 60s. It has a Pondorosa or Hang 'Em High feeling to it that, well, maybe fits with golf, but I think more so with the wild west. ... Nevertheless, as a musical composition and orchestral arrangement, I think it's quite wonderful.

Given the near epic feel here
I would hope that the best golfers in the world would be part of the tournament in order to do your piece justice. It has dignity, strength and purpose, and conveys a great significance to anything it is associated with.

Timing's been mentioned and is easily tweaked, and otherwise I think that this is really cooking and full of grandeur.

Nice job!!!

Doug

The tournament
came and went and unfortunately this music wasn't chosen. It wouldn't have worked with the spot they created which frankly wasn't my cup of tea but the music now lives which I'm happy about.

Thanks Doug. I get the feeling that if you where making the spot it would have fit right in. But then again you're an outstanding composer and I would bet that you would have tossed up something spectacular yourself.

Cheers,
Charlie
