Description
Since my last several posts have been slower tempo (or even depressing) I thought I'd liven things up a little with a happier, more spirited piece. As well as a further exploration of melody, this is another of my experiments in combining orchestral instruments with synthesizers: here, a bassoon and tympani with a dance-y analog pad as well as an atmosperic analog pad. No loops this time: all MIDI by me ;-)

The wonderful pulsing image is called "movamulet.gif" and I have no idea where it originated. It appears many places on the web but I couldn't find an attribution.

I wish it pulsed for me
No pulsy on Safari... At least my version. But this piece is pulsing beautifully. Nice work Richard!

Sorry Mark: the first version I posted was too big and the animation disappeared. I had to shrink it enough to be accepted as is before it started to dance.
Happy the music's working for you though.

we've got a pulse!
Intriguing build of swirly synthotronics. There seemed to be a tiny glitch in the loop-matrix as far as timing, with a little beat-skipping in there, but that was pretty minor. This reminds me, very slightly, of one of my favorite tracks from Tangerine Dream's Stratosfear album (my favorite of theirs.) Hypnotically repetitive. Cool.

I suppose I could transpose that glitch to the major... but the beat-skipping might live on ;-) I can truthfully say that TD were not an influence but I guess I missed a good album. Thanks, Eduard.

Swirling masterpiece
Love the 80's synth sounds. Agree with Drakonis it does sound like Tangerine's album. Well done

I guess everyone is familiar with TD but me: I'll have to check them out. They can't be TOO bad ;-)
Thanks Karen. Happy you enjoyed, and that it pulsed for you. Cheers.

Some cool trance like
beat motifs in here. I like the melody you used in here. Very different. Perhaps a lead instrument coming in at some point to add a touch of flavor and reinforce the melody further could even improve this one further? Well done, enjoyed it!

The image is a 14-layer animated gif which originally was much larger than song image files are allowed on MJ. I was able to open it in GIMP, an open-source image manipulation program (and free), crop it slightly, shrink it slightly, and reduced the file size sufficiently that the MJ server accepted the file with the layers intact and, consequently, it appears to pulse. Unfortunately, not QUITE in time with the music. But it's still fun.
Glad you like but it's just dumb luck and persistence.

Sweet!
I agree with Charles, this would be great to put a lead guitar or something to to really add to a very enjoyable hypnotic groove!

You ALWAYS agree with Charles, JD: it's not fair (sorry, just being silly ;-)
I think you both may be right, but I don't play guitar. Any takers?
Glad you enjoyed the groove, and thanks.
