We Gather Together

Description
The classic tune from the Netherlands, which is well recognized in the United States as a Thanksgiving hymn. I arranged this for the tonechimes, to utilize the talents of 8 people playing 2 octaves of bells. This is the GarageBand version, written out for the players with Finale, then transferred via midi to GarageBand for some work on dynamics and attack. Happy Thanksgiving to my U.S. friends, and to everyone else.

Lyrics
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing,
He hastens and chastens His will to make known.
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to His name, he forgets not His own.

Very plinky!!!
I like... The bells sound gorgeous and I think you worked hard to clean up the attacks. Nicely done!

Plinky
That's the nature of a tonechime, I guess. It does have a very 'music box' sound to it, and the quantization (or accuracy) in Finale add to that somewhat mechanical sound. Still, it's easy to follow along with, and personally, that music box sound makes me a bit nostalgic. Thanks for listening!

Richard-
Thanks for coming and listening. I've been absent from the macJam scene, and when I have been here, it's been as a guest, so no commenting from me for awhile. A really appreciate your comments.

Takes me right back...
...to fifth grade, and music class, and Thanksgivings of my youth....

This is another of those lovely, simple, sacred melodies that sound like what they're supposed to be... Melody well suited to the task at hand...

You have nicely set the music to the bells, keeping everything clear, uncluttered, simple as a snowy morning....

Good one...

Oh, that's so very nice.
Sorry I got to this a couple weeks late, but it is none the less enchanting to hear this great Thanksgiving song performed so beautifully. Your GB version through Finale works just great. I am so glad I heard this this evening.

Lovely
Well, I am awfully late to be hearing this, but it's been a crazy hectic term, and I'm only just starting to wind down now. Fortunately, this is the perfect balm for the stressed soul! Very pretty, and profound. Thanks for sharing this.

Wilt heden nu treden?
The melody sounds very familiar but the words are not coming to me. Probably because I was always busy with the organ keys.

Lovely! Much enjoyed. Those hymnal melodies have the conviction and charm of their simplicity. They just feel right, with a timeless quality as if they were always there and always will be.
