Jazz blues 1st take- me jamming with a ridiculously good bass player friend. Recorded on an ipod very lo-fi. Photo is the recording studio planned for my house once I sell enough cd's.

Yanno Mark...
Most seriously, I could listen to you until the cows came home (then I'd send them back and listen some more!) You guys seriously break it down on this--ya done chilled me and I LOVED IT!! Thanks for bringing this good news our way and by the way, I just hope your studio--if and when you get it--is not all convexed like that (something like that could disorient a guy!) Michael

OK, so
You plug the strat into one channel, bass into channel 2, and the other 46 channels? WELL, they can contribute some warm low level hiss...

I'll take a couple of talented guys jammin in front of a $15 cassette recorder any day over off-pitch meandering in a fancy studio.

D/L'd from yer iPod to mine.

the way
you phrase your notes makes old progressions sound completely fresh. You hover between funky and staid, I love how abstracted your playing is. The bass is indeed excellent.

Please do more of these, the spontaneity is really nice to hear.

Never lo-fi
The sound had an archival quality that made me think I was listening to an early Charlie Christian demo. Great bass foundation. Give me something like this any day over an overblown production number. High quality playing. Regards, Peter

Okay, at this point,
...I have this vision of you being like Stephen Foster...You know, after you're gone, someone finds a couple of iPods or an abandoned hard drive or two in your cold and lonely garret, and upon firing them up they discover that you were the exemplary guitaristical player of the age... And all the critics write about, "if only we'd KNOWN....if only we'd HEARD..."

Hah. Well, no excuses now, folks... The extant and 'published' canon of Stunkelness is growing beyond the bounds of those attic walls...

Seriously, the iPod has done a lovely job, and is not 'lo-fi' at all... Your penchant for jazz chords remains deeply troubling, as is that thing you do where there are two or three moving lines going at once... In folk music we banned that long ago...One musical line was good enough for my dad, y'know, and it's good enough for me... And no one in MY family has touched a drop o' harmony since ought-nine...

I still want you to play something with distortion where you do that thing where you wiggle your fingers and do hammer-ons and stuff...Because I want you to be taken seriously as a guitarist...
Ibstrat said 2326 days ago (December 13th, 2010)
I
hope you are right Ed, but there are so many guitarists WAY better than me(I could name at least 50 off the top of my head) that got no recognition that I can't see that happening. The distortion wiggle thing is a good idea though!

Lo-fi
Hi-entertainment value; sounds so rounded and warm; a great sound and wonderfully soothing. it's like walking down a musical path not knowing exactly what's round the corner, yet there's something very recognisable and comforting there. Love the bass accompaniment too.... excellent, regards M

Ridiculously Good...
You are both ridiculously good... this is fantastic! I would have been willing to bet money and my dog that I commented on this already, but evidently not!? Lucky for my dog that this bet was not made. Anyway, you guys are as good as any pros, and I hope you have the opportunity to work together again. The bass seems a little far back in the mix; maybe I just like a more prominent bass than most people. Love the last chord!
