Description
A song dear to my heart... for Barb.
William Shaw of England-link graced me with his exquisite mandolin playing... really made the song.

I wish I still had the original GB file.. (crashed long ago) ... that I might remove the ambient background noise...

such is life...

an end-of-year remaster...

cheers.

Lyrics
SHE’S LIKE THE WIND - Music and Lyrics by Jack Miller 2005

She's like the wind, and the sun, and the rain.
She's like the night, the dawn, and the day.
She lives her life and changes my heart.
She gives her love to me from the start.

Bridge – Chorus

And when she's gone,
She's gone too far away.
But when she's near,
She knows when I say...

She's like the wind, and sun, and the rain.

Bridge – Chorus

She looks at me and brightens my day.
Hand in my hand, we walk in this way.
She's like a prayer, her heart I can see.
I know she's for real. I know she's for me.

Bridge - Chorus
And when she's sad,
She always comes to me.
And then I look at her...
And again I can see...
She's like the wind, and sun, and the rain.

Such a pretty song and so well done. A great, clear recording! And the mando sounds right on too.
I know how you feel, I also lost a good portion of my songs due to a HD crash. At least I had them posted so I didn't lose them entirely.

Do a song? Yes!
Your song or mine? I have just written 23 new songs but all are in bare bones status some only a verse and chorus and not much on lyrics even at that. A few gems though if I do say so myself.

She's Like The Wind
Brings to mind 70's singer-songwriters (James Taylor John Denver). Pretty song. Nice vocals and the mando sounds great

The mando...
by William Shaw is what elevates the music and catches the ear. But you knew that!
Thanks, Andrew.

The good kind of simple...
This has some of that mid-Sixties folk/singer/songwriter feel to it... Eric Anderson and people like that....

Nice spangly guitar in the right channel, and I like how unobtrusive the multiple guitars are.... The mandolin(s) nicely decorate the tune, sort of skipping over the top of the guitar bed.... It all fits...

These people who are in love with their wives.... What's up with that?....

Lucky fools...

Thanks much, Ed. Best to you and your family in the new year.

Tugs at
heart strings. It must feel wonderful to have someone feel about you like you obviously feel for your wife. You can feel the love and the importance of making the choice to love, no matter what. Nice thing to whip out after the dog chews her slipper or you break mother's vase. Thanks.

Great comments...
Demter7... I am thankful for this woman... our marriage. And as you wrote, "the importance of making the choice to love, no matter what"... yes-hard to do, but a direction of life one can take. Direction makes all the difference, even with our many, many failures. Cheers and thanks.

Wow...
Its like coming across an old friend. So much tenderness in your performance. And there's such a good shape to this song.

Thanks so much for putting this up again Jack.

This sounds terrific - nice bit of Mandolinquenting there too William. Has a familiar ring to it - a little David Crosby in there maybe. So relaxed and relaxing - lovely mando Mando!

she's like the wind
hey jack. really uplifting airy tune. i like the choice of panning. and man....you sing so well. the mandolin complements without distracting. the instrumental section maintains interest easily because of the sweet chord progressions and the nice loose folk vibe you have going on.

Sweet song
I guess the subject is dear to your heart too...

About that remastering. The guitar in the beginning is a bit sharp, and there is nothing you can do about vocals to make them match that. My conclusion would be that you simply can not crank the guitar as much as you'd like. With all the guitars, there is a fair amount of mid in this song. You managed to get it to sound pretty transparent, but I'd be curious to see if just a bit more cutting would clear up some boominess. Or maybe I'm nitpicking.

Good song.
