Description
This is an unashamed tribute to all those serving past and present who have given their lives so the rest of us ungratefull sods can have freedom. To the British, Canadian, Australian, Indian, Gurkas from the old Empire sorry got to be slightly bias and Of course the Americans. To them all hand on heart Thank you.

I honestly believe that every child should be educated to understand and appreciate the sacrifice that these young men and women gave so our children can play on they XBoxes and kill in thier thousands on virtual Battlefields without the true concept of what is actually like to do that.

If you have had to do that then you have my greatest respect, If you haven't then please have the decency to at least appreciate it.

Sorry rant over and hope you like the song. That features my Daughter singing at the back end. Well done Honey you did a Fine first job.

Lyrics
The story's old, As old as Time.
For Queen, For Country. You stood the line

You played your part,
You gave your youth
Theres a petal with your name on it
For Freedom For Truth.

Beneath the flag, you journey home
The numbers are Climbing.
You're not alone.

We dry our tears, Is it any good.
To know that the poppies grow
Where all you soldiers stood.

Light the candle, See the light
Let it guide you all home tonight.
You fought with honour, your conscience clear
there's nothing left for you to fear.

The story's old, As old as Time.
For Queen, For Country. You stood the line

Hi Mr Gilmour!
Wondered what you were doing these days!

Love the production, although perhaps the war sounds could precede the guitar? Just an idea. Feel free to stick it up me, i know i won't like the old cold steel, as Jonesy might say!

Nicely put together and well performed. Liked your daughter's vocals.

Shows some thought and work, this song.

Enjoyed it. Cheers.

Don't know what to say
Jd Thanks so much for your comments I'm a bit on the back foot Im so glad you liked it and truly got the message I tried to put across. I knew some people would and some wouldn't. But thanks again.

The irony is David Gilmore's son was recently caught vandalising the WWII memorial in London. It happened in the recent student riots against education cuts. Much to the horror of his parents little Gilmour when apologising to the press stated he did not know what the memorial stood for as he swung from the British Flag. Not something you want to say to the international press when you're studying history at university! Ah the young. Thanks again

A worthy tribute!
My step-dad and brother-in-law both served in Vietnam. Although I did not believe that war was necessary, they have my undying respect.

Thanks for this one friend!

How true
It's governments that decide about all wars a line on a map, a threat, oil,or supporting another nation. But it's the armed forces and their families that pay the ultimate bill. Respect to you Step-Dad and B-in-law.
Thanks foe the comments and dropping by. cheers Buddy

Wow
So many emotions. I am so against war - not just the waste of young life but the destruction of life ahead for so many survivors. Think this song is a great tribute to the bravery of all of them. Good stuff, but sad too, Grahame

A moving and heart felt tribute Rick
These lyrics will stand the test of time my friend, as long as there are wars, and brave souls who fight them.

I was in the military between 2 wars, Korea & Viet Nam, so I didn't have to fight. But my heart and undying respect goes out to those who did, and especially those who came home beneath the flag.

Your tribute is a worthy one indeed, both musically and lyrically, my friend. Thank you for reminding us all of the debt we owe all of these brave young men and woman.

Peace to you Rick and your daughter for her contribution to this very moving piece.
