Punchy & soulful.
Fran, you bring this old-schooler to life, soul man. Consider my comments on the last Tuesday-nighter to apply here, too. I'll add kudos to Lisa Marie. Also to whomever is responsible for this clear mix and/or recording -- even the bass punches without booming.

thanks!!!!
THIS time, the sm 57 i put on the bass cabinet worked...so this is 4 mics. Two AKG perception 200s in the room about 3 feet in front and above the band, stage left and right, a sennheiser guitar amp mic (AWESOME piece of gear for recording live guitar) and an sm 57 on the bass cab...there are NO mics on the drums. The vocal is being picked up by one of the AKG room mics.

The next thing is to make sure i adjust the PA itself before we start for optimum tone for the vocals.

So You really cant MIX this stuff, in the usual sense, but you can add clarity by blending the close mics with the ambients...

Please folks let me know how this actually sounds thru your gear. But these recordings to me, may become my legacy, so i would like to have them be as good as i can get them.

thanks again bob!

Live n lovin it
I would dig listening to this stuff live. Tight band and good soulful singing. The mix works pretty good even on my laptop speakers.

Can't wait for some dl action :)

Live music...
...does it for me...three man band w/vox. Not an easy thing to pull off with this kind of flair. Nice, Fran...

I agree about those Sennheiser mics...they're really fine.

sweet cheeses. Outstanding jam. You do have your not so secret weapons "the Bishop's". That's a lock on the groove that does not quit. Lisa Marie steps it up.

Well....
...it's a terrific headphone mix.... The bass is nicely in there, although I think it might like a little compression or EQ in that double time bit towards the chorus.... Even so, it's nice getting more bass in a live FDB recording....

There's plenty of vocal for my taste....

I think the drums sound big and wide here... I hope Fran likes 'em... Cymbals and snare are nice and clear... Maybe the kick is light, although I don't think I'd notice if I wasn't trying to listen to everything...
