Really dug the lyrics and the atmosphere of the original. Sounded like something up my alley.

So, better late than never.

Enjoy,
Dave

Lyrics
Dont You understand
that we are human
and when you point your finger at me
don't forget I'm a human being

Daylight come shine on me
When youve got nothing to lose
and nothing to believe
Sunlight...walking down your street
everybody feels the same
we all know The Beat

Don't you know your lies can make me cry
I'm not invulnerable just cause I'm a guy
and when you turn to hurt me with your eyes
turn around with a smile

I really liked Tom's original. I like the way the groove you used floats. The clean guitar tones also allow the lyrics to shine through. Good choice of material and very well arranged.

Looks
Like were working to the same schedule!!
Super intro.
That strange reverse drum? Effect is neat indeed.
This has a gentle alternative vibe which is very appealing.
Guitar solo/outro is dreamy.
Excellent cover

Wonderful mix
Hi Dave. I haven't heard the original but will chase it down. Wonderful mix puts the vocals front and centre and I like the way the guitars work away in the background. Nice work. Regards, Peter.

Wonderful
I listened to this and then ran over to the Dark Planet version. Both versions honestly great. Up my alley, too. And your production on this track is incredible. Very clear bass and guitars. The reversed drums in the break. In fact I love the guitars so I much I wanted to suggest having a verse or two of them on their own. And there you go doing just that with some cool layered delay guitar. Great job!

RE: The guitars
That's me running a clean guitar through my processor. Sounded backwards or delayed, but they're really not. Just sounded good to me.

Glad you liked this one.

David!!!
You made this all your own and at the same time kept the original feel. When you first sent this to me I was floored as anyone might be when a song they have done gets covered.

Great production you have created on this one, everything just sounds full and tweaked. I love the backwards effect break in the middle and then the start of the second verse, just sounds nice and not in the original. and the closing guitars sound real good, sort of familiar. Kudos for being adventurous!

I think its great when we support each other on this site.
An honor Mr. Lamp! :D

MJCC11 The Beat (Dark Planet Cover)
Simple guitar line is very effective with that clean, soft tone. Sincere vocs work well delivering the lyric's message. Drum arrangement works well delivering some complex fills that offset the bass and guitar. Nice job!
