Lyrics
THE NIGHTS WOULD SWAY

I used to play
In a rock and roll band
We were more than just boys
But not quite men

We sang the songs
You sing before
You’re too old
Before your dream
Gets lost or stole

There were summer nights
So soft
That they soothed your Soul
And there was the rock and roll

There were summer nights
So soft
That they soothed your Soul
And there was the rock and roll

I used to sing
In a rock and roll band
In the barns
At the crossroads West of town

Everyone dancing
To every song
Both young and old
Bet you couldn’t count
All the hearts
The young girls stole

There were summer nights
So soft
That they soothed your Soul

And the nights would sway
With rock and roll

CHANGES
ROCK & ROLL changes, but this is a throw back to about 1967 and Trent Reznor leads the Avant Garde these days. Love it, but not much overlap.

Best to you, Char

Classic!
Great to see something new from you here at MJ Coop! Wistful, not a doubt. Can smell the smoke and taste the beer of the hundreds small, out of the way bars that tell the story.

SO RIGHT
"WISTFUL."
BUT weren't we all in those days? Maybe more, for some, These Days (Unattainable Nostalgia?).

Compliments to You, Brother

Rock n Roll
At least the R n R is still there!

Enjoyed this. Something of the modern Bob Dylan about this in a good way, i think. The easy, smooth rhythm, elongated vowels, hovering on cynicism but the music keeps it positive.

Nice.

FLASHBACK
Seventeen on the farm. Saturday Nights were for music in the hay barns, sort of a cleaned up Juke Joint for everyone and any one. One of summer's gifts at that age. Didn't know no Blues like COMFY IN THE WINE BAR and I don't think I had that many fingers!! Love the Backbeat you slip in there.

OH, MY MY
SPEAKING Of Really Perfect, the recording, CONFLUENCE, about does it! The Tone, the Feel, the Rhythm and Melody are precisely what the Title indicates. Quite a pleasant excursion across a landscape.

Additionally, it pleases me that you clearly got the gist of this one. It's been difficult to get things together lately, but this just arrived part and parcel.

THANK YOU, JD
NEIL Really "Sets Up" these things (Producer, as it were). I'm a bit disappointed in the Bass level of the mp3 as the low end is so dynamic at the 24-bit level. He will for give me, but it bothers me some. Live and learn, I guess.

APOLOGIES TO YOU, NEIL
THE Bass response at 24-bit and the monitor level review of the mp3 have a truly pronounced Bass response that I"m not picking up here. No clear explanation, but something is canceling the frequency in the EQ set. Je regret.

there's this "dangling expectation" in this chord progression that really works. Cool song, Coop.

MY MAN IN TEXAS!
I Suppose it is a combination of the missing F# in the D Chord and the move to Em as the dominant that accounts for that, but I've been in a "block' so long, I'm really just guessing.

Great to "see" you after so long, Brother.

Very Best to You.

sparkly & shiny!

what i dig about this it has a classic rock style in the vain of early Tom Petty & R.E.M. a sound that is sorely missing these days.

Love the guitar sound!
You are channeling Petty on this. That's a complement! He's a rich man cuz of that sound.

Did the levels jump up after the first verse? I gotta go back and listen again. Oh and then back down for second verse. This great, but not used to the levels jumping like that in between. Really like this. Maybe jumps a little too much in level.

LAYING INTO IT!
THERE Isn't a Gain move on the track, but there is a -6 dB follow for the Rhy Gtr on the left channel (replacing the Ld Gtr) and the Rhy Gtr is being played more aggressively than elsewhere in the piece.

NOW That you mention it - it IS a bit "in your ear" relative to the following passage - [NOTE To File: Never Mix Your Own Trx!!!]
Ah, Well, eh?

THE Man!
YOURS Is a highly singular and coveted point of view, Brother.

This one just came along when I wasn't looking, just lucky one night. Straight Strat for the Rhy Gtr, couple of stomp boxes on the Ld Gtr, no fancy stuff. Simple Best?

Very cool rootsy vibe. The Petty/McGuinn/Dylan-ish vocal lays perfectly on that rootsy bed.
