Description
This is a work in progress to be the intro for a the complete tune. I'm scratchin' my head a bit because my software begins to lag and that conflicts with the time of the song. I have been pullin' crap off my hardrive to dedicate more energy to completing this piece but am interested to know the opinions of the peeps of Macjams. If it sounds too much like everything else is it worth it too continue?
I'll let you be the judge.

Also if someone would like to down load it and add their OWN flavor I would be much obliged and interested.
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian
This is a off to a good start. Sounds like nothing I've heard on here. But I've only been here 2 months. Something good will come out of this. Sounds very good. Keep me posted. Guinness!

Have one on Me!
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm not even slightly skilled as a pianist and am self talk on the guitar so I get frustrated easily.
Thanks again,
Brian

Lag.
Is often present if you have the clip editor, (the lower box) open at the same time you are trying to use musical typing. Try closing it up before moving forward.

Cool little piece, you might try looping the bassline and bringing up the percussion a bit. This has a lot of potential. I'd be happy to play with it a bit if you want to send me the GB file.

I made a stupid move!
I needed space on my hard drive for my next short film project and trashed the GB file by accident. Gimme a little time, I'll recreate it by next week and get it to you.
It would be an honor to have your talented ability on this piece.
Thanks,
Brian

Not the same
Interesting and different i would say, though i have not been around long either. Love the sitar! Where did you get that? Would love to have that as an option in my GB software instruments.

MACJAMS!!
This site is the best. It was a free download attached to this site:
www.d.umn.edu/~bold0070/projects/instruments/ There are some great packages of instruments there.

Thanks for stopping by,

Thank you much
I really enjoy this piece. Santana's Abraxas album 1st song inspired this tune mi Mommasieta had this record and I would listen to it until we wore the needles out! There's nothing like Vinyl.
Thanks again,
Brian

sometimes the best stuff comes out of just letting yourself sit in "head scratch time" for awhile. this has all kinds of cool possibilities and is a great start. looks like you're already getting some good info re: the lag. enjoyed!

Down to the roots
with my scratchin'! Lol. Half my problem is I really not a trained musician so the notes from my fingers don't fly as fast as the ones in my head. They say it's never too late to learn an instrument but it sure gets harder.
Thanks for the confidence boost and I'm glad you enjoy where its going.

The entire 2 minutes sounds like an intro. A good intro, but it needs to start going somewhere at about 1:30 or so. I see it's a WIP, so I get that. There are some timing issues that are noticeable. Personally, I think it would be better to keep the bass centered throughout. It's really hard on the ears with headphones to have panned bass. It doesn't sound like everything else. Eastern influence usually goes over well here, but there's not that much of it. Looking for a main theme. But I think you're off and running.

Fantastic advice!
I can't thank you enough for the food for thought. You're dead on with recommendations. I have so many choices with GB software I sometimes get stuck in option paralysis.

I was telling TheDanseLeviathan, I trashed the GB files of this tune while cleaning my hard-drive.
But is is a simple arrangement and really needed to be overhauled.
Thanks,
Brian

In the ear of the beholder!
Awesome compliment! Thank you very much.
Actually, I had to pan the bassline on 2 separate tracks due to lagging & timing issues. And originally didn't care for the pan. Maybe if i blend it together...(head scratch).
Again awesome compliment! Thanks,
Brian

Agreed
I really am a great fan of Danse and am not worthy of a musician of that caliber but I will send him file. I can't wait to hear the results!
Thanks for the advice JD,
Brian

I think this is a sort of a Captain Beefheart type of approach to music. I like the movement in it all. I am listening through phones at the moment so I can really appreciate it.

An enjoyable track indeed. If you wanted to add to this I think some dialogue would sound good with it maybe like Frank Zappa did with tracks like the Dangerous Kitchen - just a thought - though thinking again I think it would work very well. If you need to listen to this Zappa track please pm me.

John.

I just heard!
I have a myriad of Zappa but never heard that tune! I'll take you up on the suggestion and add some lyrics! I have wrote something yeas ago I think will fit.
I appreciate the compliment from a HUGE talent as yourself.
Thanks for listening,
Brain

Asian Flavor
I just LOVE the pseudo-Asian flavor the ethnic stringed instrument adds--really amazing sound. The octave-spanning bass lends a cohesiveness to the concept and keeps it all together. This has a LOT of potential to evolve into something epic. Cool. :)

You had me at, "HELLO"
Sorry..., bad movie pun.

I'm a huge fan of Asian music but lack the instrument loops or effects. so the ones I have, I feel, force my AD-HD or HDD or AC-DC..., mind into one zone. I can't wait to edit this again.
Thanks Cat,
Brain

Nice foundation...
This has got real promise - I would also keep the bass centred and have the other phrases left and right. Some ethnic sounding bass drums behind it would sound cool. You can get away without changing the bassline as long as there's enough stuff dropping out and coming in and you get a sense of it building - more drums coming in perhaps? A nice eastern vocal sample would be good too, although they are very hard to find!!!

Awesome Smokey
I love the input and feel the same way! Gotta have a good foundation!

I was saying in an earlier comment, the original GB file was trashed but I think it is for the better 'cause now I can re-record with fresh ideas from inspired compliments.

My mind was going a little stale working on this one alone.
Thanks,
Brian
