Lyrics
started dreaming a long time ago
didn't wake up until yesterday
not sure what i'm seeing
people are still the same

so much anger mixed with all this hope
find myself just trying to cope
with my dreams now, now that I have woken up

I remember the way

when i kissed your hand and saw your tears
I swore I'd be back to calm your fear

I remember the way
I remember the way... you smiled

I Remember The Way
This is a cool song. Catchy intro - song has a very 80's feel. Your vocals sound a bit influenced by Bowie. Right after the 2 minute mark is the "work in progress" part I am assuming. You are definitely on the right track - your song sounds great. I look forward to the completed version.

Hi Papa - this is terrific! I'm listening in earbuds, and for what it's worth, I have the volume turned way WAY down for it to not be painfully loud. love your lyrics here and great vocal performance ("I remember the way-hey-hey" - that's cool). Great guitar work - why are you calling this a work in progress? what more does it need? NOTHING!!! congrats papa - D/L'ed!

Cool groove. Love the growling guitar... sounds like it is going through an old Roland Jet Phaser... might have to dig mine out. Like the "tinklies" at the end. Well done!

FAV'D BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE GREAT
I'M Getting some cancellation and some over-amps. I think you need to be more drastic in the EQ structure and limit the larger overlaps (e.g., below 200Hz, the Kick, Bass and lower Vocal)

Great Vocal and really well played.
Needs some cuts to make enough room in the envelope is all.

Takes me back to the '80s in a really nice way this. Love the echoey vocals, sincere and insistent, never drowned out by the really rocking accompaniment.

Sounds finished to me!

Enjoyed. Thanks for the post.

Cool beat
I find I'm enjoying this a lot! The mix might sound a bit mid rangey (if that is a term)... Is the mid boosted or am I just boosted this morning? LOL Nicely done!

I remember..
Massive 80s influences takes me back to my wee youth!! The vocal reminds me a bit of human league type stuff. Maybe missing a lead guitar???? But surely this is not far off whatever you think. Well done mate

cool song
I really dig the instrumentation and structure of this song. If I have a nit to pick, it's that the vocal track levels seem much higher than the rest, or something is setting them "apart" from the whole mix.

The way
It's definitely catchy, and it's got a few nice hooks. A bit of the INXS feel, sure. I think the vocals are just a tad too hot. Snare sounds a little lacking on the high side, need some pop -- could just be me. A little more hi-hat might be good. Like the percussion around 2:00 but it needs a little reverb I think. Sounds very close. Ending is a little anti-climactic. Maybe something bigger to cap it off. Anyway, that's a great groove, and the vocals sit nicely inside of it.

Hello Geoff!
How are you sir? This is well worth finishing, I think you might consider revising the lyrics a bit, a little cliche and a tiny bit awkward on " now that I have woken up" but some tweaking and you got a really good song, it's all about the hook which I think you have a good one, just not sure what the song's about... look forward to the next revision!

Solid
and groovy tune, with some elements of INXS creeping in here. love those rolling keys a the 2.00 mark, but it was a bit of an abrupt ending.

Groovy man!
This is really great. I dig the groove!

Using high pass filters on the vocals and instruments will eliminate the lowest frequencies so that there is more headroom for the bass drum. It may be good to have the kick stand out a bit. However, I may be crazy so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Love it so far! Listened to it twice.

I don't know what the
plinky thing is, piano or xylophone or marimba...but that is unique. The vocal sounds like it is sung with a megaphone which grabs attention. I like it. Thanks.

Like a trip...
in the Time Tunnel. The slight *tunnelling* effect in the mix is not one that I generally like, but I think it works well in this song, although there are some overpowering EQ and phase shift problems on the bottom end. I'm sure you will address those as you complete your work on this track.

It does have a bit of an INXS feel to it and that's pretty cool. Nice job. ;)

really cool tune, like the way this kicks, really like that one note that came out around 1:06 after the first chorus. really fun tune dude.

you said feedback is appreciated: there are things I would change about effects on certain instruments, volume levels, but a lot of that is just personal taste and to each his own.. i do think the way the song is, could benefit with throwing a touch more reverb or work on the spacing of the vocals a little, it's got some echo, but i think giving those vocals a much more spread out sound would work great, you could even go super generous on the echo/reverb space designer and give the vocals a little bit of an 80s feel or something, but yeah the way you've got this piece mixed you have the sound spread out nicely, which leaves middle space for the vocals which to me need to be a little more dominant, not the way they are sung though, just the way it's mixed.. IMHO!!!

thx for the great free listen

I Remember The Way
Good groove, catchy main riff. The scratchy guitar on the right is cool. Solid vocals. Good hook which comes at the right place. To my ears the parts in the higher register (keys, guitar) are sounding very separated both from each other and from the bass/drums whereas the latter group is sounding a little muffled.

80's? great lyrics. I love the synths in this - and each of the different pieces comes in at just the right time. there's a lot going on but the song never feels crowded. awesome ending!

I know what you mean about over-tweaking. I think this has a really nice feel to it though, Papag. Love that at 1:45!! Yeah, this is groovy, I like!

better than v2
This has more dynamic range and presence than your v2 remix. I especially like the additional clarity in the voice. I'd love to hear the vocals done straight – less machine-like and megaphonic.

first is best?
I got a lot of feedback on the EQ that I did and tried to make it better in the v2 version. This song was really hard for me to get to a point that I felt comfortable with the vocals and the mix in general.

thank you for taking the time to listen to this version after hearing the v2 and making comments on each.

I definitely prefer this version...
FWIW I think this version sounds better than the newer one. It sounds more "open" and less overly sanitized to me. I'm not great with sound engineering though, so you might not want to listen to my opinion.

Other than that, a very cool sounding song with a nice, catchy riff.
