Lyrics
A long and winding road
A dust filled path that stretches
on and on and on

old scratch waits at the crossroads
he's only there to point the way
just a little favor owed

He smokes his cigarette
and tips his hat to the left
to the higher road

But the choice is yours to make
let go of fear and misery
to set yourselves free

Chains of iron bind me to this life
chains of iron bind me to the shore
Chains of Iron, Chains of iron bind me
Forevermore

See what is truly there
I heard it from a laughing dog
devouring a mourning dove

You only fool yourself
one spin of the wheel and then it's done.
one turn of the glass

Nice images
A very relaxed sound. I like the vocals in the verses very much. The effect and harmonies on the 'forevermore' are interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks
It was a bit of an experiment in using three octaves. I'm at the limit of my range doing so but I think with a little work It could be totally worth it.

Chains of Iron
The distant and deep sounding vocal adds great intensity. I like the chorus and the percussion you used during it. Nice guitar sound.

Deep notes
Were pretty hard to reach, but worth the sore throat.

Hi Adam
A recurring theme, effectively rendered in your raw and compelling style, the inner workings of life perceived as dark, unsympathetic, visceral and uncontrollable.

Paper faces torn away, and behind them masks ever uglier, but still only a single face?

i would have loved to have heard a little bottleneck slide here, Adam? Perhaps not the chorus but the verses? Come to think of it, i don't think i have heard any yet at MacJams, though that's my fault probably for not paying attention!

Cheers for, as always, an interesting and effective song.

I'm more
a songwriter than performer or producer. For me, it's all about expressing the moment in my mind that inspired the song. then it's on to the next. I'd love to get some folks to cover my stuff, or work with a producer or good band to make these tighter and more complex.

Cool sounds
Really nice song. Your vocals work perfectly on this one. It has a kind of twisted folk meets grunge feel to it. I like the quirky percussion too - very glitchy. Nice work.

I do believe
That this is my favorite song of yours. Although the Baklava song was pretty stellar as well.
