Description
I was going to make a zx spectrum adventure game of the film 'withnail and I'.In my research I got totally obsessed with interviews of the director Bruce Robinson.he is just like a character I'd seen rarely in the street but not had a chance to speak to.Anyway - because he made that film and it was such a flop but became such a cult hit,at least in the uk,(its a film about two resting actors that have become alcoholics btw) that the enthusiasm brushed off on me and, during an afternoon at school when I was recording instead of hanging around for the parents to turn up - i did hang around for 3 hours before i gave in,I recorded this tune, its on a nice piano but a piano that needs servicing so theres a weird clash on on a couple of strings up high that the astute listener may hear as a high pitched buzz, and some notes are out of tune.

It also fits in with the fact i just failed to get a teaching job in the town where my girlfriend lives - but I got offered some more work in the mountains i mostly frequent.work is virtually zero in britain at the moment - at least thats my oppinion - i was always willing to take on cleaning work at minimal wage but theres bugger all around so if your offered piano work at 4 times that pay - you have to take it i say.unfortunately the work i been offered is miles away from my girlfriend,so well anyway - the road never ceases to call.bloody mountains i tell yer.Its gonna be a tough year but I think we'll make it x

oh - i just decided that at the last minute - the photo would be of my girlfriends foot - purely cos we watched black swan the other day and i loved it - but she didnt see the link i made to her webbed toes.sure she'll love that - dont be suprised if the artwork gets edited.

oh yeah - i decoded this on audacity instead of itunes - when i install itunes - it renders my cd burner useless so went with the cd burning

thank you so much - booh hoo - everyone, sorry i'm such a poor participant.i will have my day and find all those golden songs.its a retirement plan.

Richard,
Glad to see a new by you. What a lovely wandering expanse it is at that. The reverb is so warm and enveloping. I feel your pain with the job thing. I'm out of work right now, too. Tough out there at the moment, there is no denying it. Good luck with all. A lovely piece.

The slight detune on the piano is acually quite nice here ... the whole piece gets some sort of relaxed and warm sunday morning home feel. I hope you will find one day all the things at one place - your girlfriend, work, piano ... the good thing is that music can go with you anywhere. At least I can clearly hear it does with you. Great job!

Rich,
I think you are one of the most talented people here, everything I've heard of yours strikes me as world class talent, I lost everything about 3 years ago, and am working 12 hour days trying to pay back huge debt, so I feel your pain brother, I know things will get better for you, you are a remarkable musician and seem like a great guy, brighter days ahead my friend! I love the slightly out of tune piano by the way, feels like I'm in the room with you! Well done!

Splendid work Richard
Very evocative. It has a wonderful feel and I like the sound of the piano as it lends an air of immediacy and reality.

Cheers

Richard
Your popularity remains here however few your visits these days and so does your talent to entertain.... this sounds great with the hollow sounding acoustics ringing around.... it gives a very 'open' feel as though this should accompany a film about flying over and around open country. Maybe that sense has imbued itself within you, since it's like your part of the country. Hope your wishes come true on the work front and.... that foot looks lovely...... as feet go LOL, regards M

De tuned
Any slight out of tune sound would surely fit with the subject, and the go also with the warm, energetic sound, more spontaneous and urgent than considered and exact?

Nice. Enjoyed.

Lovely
wonderful piece, i dig and download

this piece make me feel good (and thats also the case with many of your previous pieces) and since your music make people feel good your music is important, your music reveas big good heart, thats the language your music tell, and the world so badly needs real love, as opposed to faked, that is one more reason why your music is important and needed

your music is important and needed, i just wanted you to know that

This is the kind of thing....
...where you play and record this, apologize for the supposed flaws of the piano, and years later there are interviews/articles in recording magazines about how you got that phenomenal piano sound.... I, for one, will read them...

Great, cascading, mountain stream kind of a flow to this...

Funny old world it is...
...where I now have a photograph of your girlfriend's toes in my iPod thousands of miles away....

Gives one pause....

your playing is full of integrity, reality and courage, not to mention your complete control of the melody as if you were one with the keyboard. I hear beauty. Thank you.
